Review: Pink Punch Sunset Mushroom

Pink Punch Sunset MushroomOne of the most memorable products I’ve reviewed this year so far has to be the Pink Punch Peachu. Whilst the suction toy sadly wasn’t able to satisfy me as well as I hoped, I was blown away by every other aspect of it. Despite being a relatively new brand with only one other product under their belt, Pink Punch had clearly applied a high level of thought and consideration into their flagship stimulator, with the design of the toy itself and everything else relating to it being exceptional. The Peachu, based appropriately on a peach, is a mini work of art, as is its discreet packaging, unique storage case (which doubled as a charging dock), and cyberpunk-style phone app for long-distance control. So, when that review was done, the only thing on my mind was getting my hands on Pink Punch’s other release, the Sunset Mushroom.

My blog has always been closely linked to suction toys. The obvious reason is because they are my favourite type of sex toy, and I love to review them and encourage others to experience their life changing orgasms. But the other, lesser known, reason is that I started my blog the same year they were first released, and I feel like we’ve grown up together in a way. Far from their origins as a tacky animal-print design with an awful name (alright, the name still exists), there are now hundreds of air pressure wave toys out there, and almost ten years later brands are still finding ways to innovate upon them. That takes us to today’s review, which features the new Pink Punch Peachu’s take on suction with a twist: an alternative D-shaped nozzle!

Despite being a relatively new kind of sex toy, the idea of the grinder is extremely simple. Navigating the world of sex toys as a non-binary queer person is not easy. Go to almost any online sex store, and you’ll see a menu with categories like “female”, “male”, “couples”, “gay” and “lesbian”. But where do I fit? I could choose female, my gender assigned at birth, but what if I want a toy I can use solo and with a partner, and what if I don’t know the gender of said partner? It gives me a headache just thinking about it, and that’s as someone with almost a decade of experience in the industry. So I can’t imagine the difficulties that arise for someone new to all this, regardless of how you identify. Because at the end of the day, it’s all bullshit. Sex toys have no gender or sexuality, and the vast majority of them can be used by anyone, regardless of your genitals or preference of partner. So when Betty’s Toy Box (one of the few retailers doing the right thing by categorising toys by type and which body part they stimulate) recently introduced me to Evolved Novelties’ new brand Gender X, which offers a range of gender-neutral sex toys, I signed right up to review the Sunflower.

Every week I spend hours sorting through press releases and trade magazines to find the best and most exciting new sex toys to bring you reviews of. It’s how I end up finding gems like the Hot Octopuss KURVE and Lovehoney X Love Not War Amore despite them being barely off the manufacturing line, alongside warnings for products that didn’t quite work out before you risk spending your hard earned money on them. So that’s why when a retailer like Honeysx comes along and says I can choose anything from their store to review, I can’t help but want to put my feet up a little and review something purely for fun instead. And that is exactly what the YY Horse Mini Banana is all about. Going full form over function, YY Horse (which is the brand name, and no, I don’t know why) have created what looks to be a terrible sex toy. But with one of the most adorable designs ever, the Mini Banana has truly won my heart.

From the moment I tried the legendary Pro 2 back in 2016, Satisfyer, and their groundbreaking suction technology, became one of my all time favourite brands. For years this continued, with each Satisfyer being somehow better than the last, until finally culminating in 2019’s Satisfyer Luxury, their most ambitious (and expensive!) toy yet, whose powerful clitoral stimulation made it more than worth the price tag. But after this, things started to change. Satisfyer rebranded, switching their previously luxury feel to one more aimed at newcomers, and begun to release a wide range of products (ending their suction specialisation) at much lower prices than before. Cautiously pessimistic, I held back on reviewing for them for some time after that, until finally I broke my silence when I tried their first app compatible toys, the Curvy 1+ & 2+, around this time last year. With the pair all but confirming my fears about the declining standards of the brand however, it wasn’t the return to Satisfyer I had hoped. So when Betty’s Toy Box recently contacted me about trying the Curvy’s successors, the Dual Pleasure and Dual Love, it seemed only fair to give the brand I once loved so much a second chance.
