Tantus Magma

The first dildo I ever reviewed was the Tantus Splish, and until like most products that I reviewed when I first started, this toy has really stood the test of time and is still one of my favourites. With a diameter of only 2.5cm / 1″ and a length of 11.4cm / 4.5″, it is far too small to be used as a regular dildo though, and instead has found a place in my home for anal play and as my partner’s alternative to fingering. I loved the drip-like design and noted in my review “Its texture is simply marvellous [for anal], and I know I just need to get my hands on a Splash now so my vagina can have a similar experience.”. The Splash was the Splish’s larger cousin and I was eager to get one, but that was until Tantus discontinued them both. Those were some sad days in sex toy land… until recently when I noticed Tantus had announced two new products. They have a different name and a new colour palette, but sure enough the Magma and Mini Magma are the reincarnations of the Splish and Splash.

As soon as I found out about the Tantus Magma I knew I had to get my hands on one, so I was super lucky that SheVibe also happened to be looking for reviewers for it. The main reason I never bought the Splash originally, however, was because of its size. With a diameter of 4.4cm / 1.75″ and made from Tantus’s firm silicone, I knew from experience with the Tantus Vamp that this wasn’t going to fit me. So I was a little nervous when I first set out to get myself a Magma, that was until I noticed that not only is this toy now made from Tantus’s super soft silicone, but it’s actually smaller too. The Tantus Magma only has a diameter of 3.8cm / 1.5″, making it far more approachable than its previous incarnation. The Mini Magma, however, has the same size dimensions as the original Splish, and while the silicone has also changed from firm to soft, since this is such a small toy I doubt it makes a huge difference.

Tantus Magma and Tantus Splish

This toy really is a pleasure to both use and look at. While the Splish had a fabulous silver to purple gradient going on, the Magma comes in two simple colours: red and black. On paper this sounds quite boring, but it’s the shades of these two colours that makes me actually prefer this palette to the old one. The black is more of an ash colour than just black, and the red is deep and more of a burgundy than the bright reds typical of sex toys. Another hugely aesthetically pleasing factor is that it has been made with two different types of silicone. The drips are glossy and shiny, while the underneath is matte, which creates a really nice effect visually, as well as to the touch. In addition to the fun of the drip texture, this toy is also curved slightly to aid G- and P-Spot stimulation. As is usual with Tantus products, they have also included their logo at the base of the toy, which I always like as it helps me orient the toy when it’s inside of myself. Finally, as this toy has a base, it is also harness compatible and anal safe.

Tantus Magma Base

My order for the Tantus Magma was placed with SheVibe on the 24th of April, and I received it on the 6th of May. The box was 100% discreet, with no mention of the sender or what was inside. To reduce the international shipping costs and since Tantus’s packaging is only very basic anyway, SheVibe did not include the product’s actual packaging, but instead just sent the toy in a plastic bag. This isn’t a practice SheVibe use with their customers, as you cover the cost of shipping when going through checkout. Thankfully I’ve reviewed many a Tantus toy and am quite familiar with their packaging. You can check out my other reviews which contain photos to get an idea, but basically it’s just a cardboard box with some basic information on it, and a plastic cut-out which lets you view the toy prior to opening. Since these boxes are often quite bulky I usually throw them away anyway and instead store my toys in a zip-lock bag.

One big difference between the Magma and all my other dildos is how little its head is tapered. A tapered head refers to the gradual increase in size that most dildos, as well as penises in real life, have, which makes insertion easier. But this toy has barely any taper, and starts almost immediately at its widest point, making insertion a little trickier than it would have otherwise been for a toy of this size and density. As such, to make sure I am properly warmed-up to insert the toy, I like to start with either the Funkit Toys NoFrillDo R or Tantus Pack ‘n Play No.2 (or both!) and then move onto the Tantus Vamp Super Soft. The Vamp is actually bigger than the Magma, with a diameter of 4.4cm / 1.75″, but due to its taper and lack of texture it’s actually easier to insert than the Magma, and the perfect way to ensure I am ready for it.

Tantus Magma Head

Once inside the initial sensation I get from the Tantus Magma is one of perfect fullness. Since the drips flow satisfyingly along the length of the toy without disrupting its shape too much, I can’t feel them as easily as I had imagined I would (so if texture is a concern for you this should be fine), but what I do feel is extremely pleasurable. Due to this I really enjoy doing long thrusts with the Magma, and I find that its size combined with its slight curve lets me lightly stimulate my G-Spot, which was a surprise as I don’t often find this with silicone dildos. My favourite way to use it, however, is to put it in as deep as it will go so all of the drips are inside, and then just thrust it from there to help stimulate my A-Spot. This is some next level pleasure, and easily puts the toy as one of my best A-Spotting dildos ever. I think the non-tapered head is probably the cause of this amazing feeling, and the overall unique shape of the toy makes the sensations I get from it really stands out in my otherwise mostly phallic collection.

Since the Tantus Magma is entirely silicone it is also waterproof, which makes cleaning it a breeze. For general cleaning it is best to wipe it down with warm soapy water and rinse before and after every use. Be careful to also clean around all the drips thoroughly, and for this I’d recommend a scrubbing with a soapy toothbrush. Then, after every few uses, or if you are switching between partners or vaginal and anal play, then I’d recommend sterilising it by throwing it in the dishwasher, wiping it down with a 10% bleach solution or boiling it for 5 minutes. After, let air dry and then return it to storage. Make sure to only use water-based lubricant with it, and if you want to try anything else then perform a spot test before doing so.

Tantus Magma Back

Reviewing the Tantus Magma has been a long time coming for me, and as with anything that is built up over a long period of time it ran the risk of not being able to live up to my expectations. But I couldn’t be happier with this beautifully textured toy, and I’m so glad Tantus brought back what is one of the unique dildos out there. Whether I was thrusting with its whole length to provide a texture sensation bomb and G-Spot stimulation, or just directing its thick non-tapered head to provide me with some of the best A-Spot stimulation I’ve ever had, this toy was incredibly enjoyable to use. Plus, with its new smaller size, it doesn’t take a ridiculous amount of time to warm up to use (which is an issue I have with some of my other A-Spot winners, such as the Tantus Gary and Uncut #1). If you enjoy G- or A-Spot sensations, silicone dildos, and texture that isn’t too overpowering, then you need to get Tantus Magma ASAP! Who knows how long it’ll stick around in this incarnation.

You can get the Magma directly from Tantus for just $71 AUD / $52 USD!
