Long before I started reviewing sex toys, I was an avid reader of sex blogs. As a curious 18 year old who had just moved out of home, I didn’t have much to spend, so researching which products were best in order to get the most out of my money was of the utmost importance to me. It was during this time that I first noticed a number of products that seemed to repeatedly pop up in the work of my favourite bloggers, regardless of what they were supposed to be actually writing about. They were the must-haves of sex toys, and so when I started blogging the toys on that list, such as the Magic Wand Rechargeable, We-Vibe Tango, and Njoy Pure Wand, were some of the first I sought out. Five years in however, there has only been one toy that has managed to evade me all this time, despite numerous efforts to get my hands on it. Widely regarded as the best realistic dildo ever, the Vixen Creations VixSkin Mustang stands-out from the rest on my list as the only toy from an independent maker, and it is that fact that has made obtaining one here in Australia tricky. But when the amazing folks over at KissKiss heard of my struggles, they were kind enough to send one out all the way from Switzerland, so that my sex toy dreams may finally be fulfilled!
Review: Le Wand Rechargeable Massager
Despite being a relatively new brand, Le Wand’s products continually seem to be a topic of debate among sex bloggers, and for good reason. Accused of being a “copy-cat” manufacturer, the luxury toy brand has been releasing products that look suspiciously similar to those from other brands for years now, but with the announcement of their latest Stainless Steel collection, which features toys almost identical to those from Njoy, things have really heated up. Now, my thoughts on this matter could make up an entire post of their own, so for now I’ll just say that taking inspiration from popular products is just part of design, and as frustrating as it might be, it’s something that happens across all industries. Plus, an important thing to consider is that while Njoy’s products (which range from $130 to $520 AUD) are not a possibility for most people, Le Wand’s are significantly cheaper, and I am 100% here for making toys more accessible. At the end of the day though, Le Wand is a luxury brand too, and keeping their prices lower than the toys they take inspiration from isn’t always easy. With that in mind, today I am taking a look at the Le Wand Rechargeable Massager, a toy that’s very similar to one of my personal favourites, the Magic Wand Rechargeable, despite costing more!
Review: Désirables Dalia
As our seemingly never-ending lockdown continues here in Melbourne, I find myself thinking about how to support small and local businesses more than ever. Whether it’s a brick-and-mortar store that has been forced to close its doors, or an online retailer faced with demands for refunds due to delays out of their control, it’s a tough time to be in business. So in addition to my own financial support, I’ve been working to find new ways to promote and highlight small businesses on my social media over the last few months, and it was through this that I first learned of Montréal-based manufacturer Désirables. An independent maker of some of the most beautiful hand-made products I’ve ever seen, Désirables immediately stood out to me through their use of porcelain as a medium for their toys, which is something I haven’t seen before. So you can imagine my excitement when I recently found out that one of my favourite local retailers, Nikki Darling, was not only about to become the first Australian stockist of their exquisite and unique toys, but that they also wanted me to review them!
Review: We-Vibe Nova 2
Recently I was asked for a rabbit vibrator recommendation from one of my readers whose old toy had just broke, and as I scrolled through almost five years worth of my own reviews to find something suitable, I realised with surprise that there wasn’t a single product I felt I could suggest. I’m not sure whether it’s because rabbit vibrators are so hit or miss and I just haven’t found something I enjoy enough yet, or that they perhaps just aren’t for me, but the bottom line is that I don’t have even one traditional rabbit vibrator that I personally enjoy enough to feel comfortable recommending it to someone else. Of all the rabbits I’ve tried, there have been plenty of alright products, such as The Rabbit Company Come Hither and Vibease Esthesia, but even my current favourite, the Rocks Off Regala, can’t even stimulate my pleasure points effectively. In fact, the best dual-stimulation toys I’ve tried aren’t even rabbits at all, but the Womanizer DUO and SenseMax SenseVibe Warm, two luxury toys that aren’t exactly what people are after when they ask for rabbit recommendations. Plus, the nature of rabbits means that even if I did find one I enjoy, chances are it wouldn’t work for you anyway. But, when I recently heard that We-Vibe were releasing a newer version of their legendary Nova rabbit, a flexible vibrator designed to work with a range of body types and the toy that Womanizer based the DUO’s amazing G-Spot arm on, I was all in.
Review: Satisfyer Curvy 1+ & 2+
When suction toys were first announced, I couldn’t help but be sceptical. But as soon as I tried my first one, I knew it was something special, and since then they’ve just kept on getting better and better. Never before has a type of sex toy so consistently raised the bar year after year, somehow finding new ways to improve upon things that I had already deemed perfect (and really messing with my ratings system). Something else about these toys that has raised over the last few years, however, is the price …at least it has on my blog. That’s right, while suction toys still come in a huge range of prices, my personal love for them has seen me requesting more and more costly options lately, with the culmination of that being my recent review on the Womanizer DUO, a $330 AUD product that (as far as I know) is currently the most expensive stimulator on the market. But while trying these luxury products has been fun (particularly for me), I also want to be able to promote and recommend products that the average person can consider purchasing, and that is not the DUO. So today I am finally breaking my streak and taking a look at two of Satisfyer’s brand new mid-range products, the Curvy 1+ and Curvy 2+.
Review: Hot Octopuss PULSE DUO LUX
Last year my partner and I had the pleasure of reviewing Hot Octopuss’s amazing masturbator meets couples toy, the PULSE III DUO, which has since been renamed as simply the PULSE DUO. Completely unique to anything I’ve ever tried before, it was a huge stand out for me, but as my partner’s first ever toy in general, it was a big deal. Unfortunately, though, right after that review our lives got pretty busy, we moved house and he took on a new full-time job, and so the PULSE DUO sadly got tucked away into his underwear drawer and mostly forgotten about. This year, however, we (like everybody else) have had a lot more time on our hands, and when lockdown started one of the first things my partner asked me was, “What ever happened to that Hot Octopuss toy?”. Well, I was more than happy to remind him of its location, but I also knew that a newer version, dubbed the PULSE DUO LUX, had recently been released, and asked if he would be interested in trying it with me, to which I received a resounding yes. Luckily the lovely folks over at Hot Octopuss were then kind enough to send one out for review, thus making our self-isolation a hell of a lot more fun!
