Recently I’ve been getting more into make-up and skincare, partly due to TikTok. I love watching people’s routines, although many of the products these influencers use are far too costly for me to even consider buying. That was when the algorithm started recommending me “dupes”, which is a shortened version of the word duplicate and young people slang for a product that is very similar to a popular competitor, yet cheaper. For the first time, make-up felt accessible to me, and these dupes have been the perfect entry-point for someone who is still learning what they like and who is not yet ready to commit to a luxury purchase. Anyway, the reason why I am telling you this story, is because when I saw today’s review item, I immediately felt like I was one of those TikTok beauty influencers, like I had the chance to help someone just starting out on their sex toy journey, just like they helped me. Because at $108 AUD / $70 USD, the Funzze Stainless Steel Dildo is the closest dupe of the legendary Njoy Pure Wand I’ve ever seen, and at less than half the price!
Review: Wands of Lust Co Hercules
The world of crystals and harnessing their energy for healing and meditation is a truly fascinating one. I’ve tried a few sex toys now that make use of this unique material, and learning about their different properties and how they can bring positive change to your life is just as mesmerising as actually using them. But alas, despite my interest and efforts, I don’t know how much I find myself truly understanding these things beyond reading about them. Instead, I mostly just think crystals look pretty, and that’s okay too. So when Wands of Lust Co recently approached me about sending another of their products, I knew I wanted to go in a totally different direction visually than my previous review on their Aphrodite. And what’s more different from the translucent pink of rose quartz, than the endless black of pure obsidian?
Review: Le Wand Hoop
For almost 20 years, the Njoy Pure Wand has been the go-to stainless steel sex toy, unrivaled in its design and pleasure abilities. So it’s almost impressive, that in an industry where copycat designs run rampant, that the Pure Wand has managed to remain a one-of-a-kind through sheer reputation alone. That is, until now, with the release of the Le Wand Hoop. An almost carbon-copy of the Pure Wand, this kind of move certainly isn’t new ground for the US-based manufacturer, whose entire catalogue is based on reimagining popular designs from other companies. However, as with their take on the legendary Magic Wand Rechargeable, my problem with Le Wand stems from the fact that rather than offering these imitations at a lower price point, they instead ask for even more money. Which begs the question: why would anyone pay more for a knock-off Pure Wand?
Review: Wands of Lust Co Aphrodite
Sex toys are a unique product in that, as something that is generally seen as risqué and not socially acceptable, people tend to find ways to categorise them so that they become acceptable. It means that rather than just being seen as a plain old vibrator or dildo, with nothing to offer but pleasure (so scary), alternative uses are found that can help take some of that edge off and make them more approachable. There are the geeks and fantasy lovers, who create toys based around pop culture for the ultimate roleplay experience, the artists and design lovers who see toys more like sculptures to be admired, and the nerds and tech lovers who want to innovate sex by connecting toys to our smartphones. But the type I want to talk about today is the wellness and spirituality lovers, who see sex toys as a way to deeply connect with your body and soul. And no product is more popular with this crowd than the iconic rose quartz wand.
Review: Désirables Dalia
As our seemingly never-ending lockdown continues here in Melbourne, I find myself thinking about how to support small and local businesses more than ever. Whether it’s a brick-and-mortar store that has been forced to close its doors, or an online retailer faced with demands for refunds due to delays out of their control, it’s a tough time to be in business. So in addition to my own financial support, I’ve been working to find new ways to promote and highlight small businesses on my social media over the last few months, and it was through this that I first learned of Montréal-based manufacturer Désirables. An independent maker of some of the most beautiful hand-made products I’ve ever seen, Désirables immediately stood out to me through their use of porcelain as a medium for their toys, which is something I haven’t seen before. So you can imagine my excitement when I recently found out that one of my favourite local retailers, Nikki Darling, was not only about to become the first Australian stockist of their exquisite and unique toys, but that they also wanted me to review them!
Review: Njoy Pure Wand
When I started reviewing I made a list of all the toys I believed were Sex Toy Reviewer Must-Haves. I’m proud to say I now own all of them, but for awhile there has been one exception to this and that was the Njoy Pure Wand. Renowned for its heavenly G-spotting and squirting abilities in the sex toy world, the Njoy Pure Wand has been a toy I have probably mentioned in my reviews over a hundred times. One of the main reasons I haven’t gotten it till now (other than the price) is that I have a difficult G-spot that loves to hide and I was starting to think it just wasn’t for me. This was until in July when I got the Jopen Comet Wand as a cheaper way for me to explore the world of G-spotting before committing to one of Njoy’s pieces. If you’ve read that review, which I’d recommend if you’re interested in G-spotting and the Pure Wand, you’ll know that I absolutely adored it and instantly made the decision to get a Njoy Pure Wand as soon as humanly possible. So, of course, as soon as I heard one of my favourite stores to work with, JOUJOU, had started stocking Njoy recently, you can bet exactly what I requested!
