Vibease Ruby

All the way back in 2017, a company sent me two amazing products that were so unique that nothing again has ever quite compared. The company was Vibease, and the products were their flagship clitoral vibrator of the same name, and their rabbit vibrator Esthesia. There was a lot to like about these toys, from their strong vibrations to body-safe silicone material, but the thing that was special about them was Vibease’s app, which both products were compatible with. Not only was the app suitable for use in long distance relationships, but it also worked with Vibease’s erotic audio book series, meaning that the toy’s vibrations would increase or decrease in sync with what was happening in the book you were listening to. Perhaps the only downside to all of this however, is that these were Vibease’s only two products, so that once I had them there wasn’t anything new to get excited about. As such, you can imagine how I felt when I recently received an announcement from Vibease informing me that they were going to be releasing a whole new range, titled the Jewel Collection!

The brand new Jewel Collection from Vibease is made up of three beautiful toys that are each inspired by a different gemstone. There is Ruby, which is a pink clitoral stimulator, Emerald, which is a green clitoral vibrator, and Onyx, which is a black vibrating cock ring. It was a tough choice for me between the Emerald and Ruby for review, and while I prefer the green of the Emerald, my previous negative experience with the Jimmyjane Intro 2, which used a similar design, ultimately put me off. As such I chose the Ruby for review, and even though pink is an overdone colour in this industry, the uniquely pale shade Vibease have chosen for it is quite refreshing. With a slim body ending in two tapered flaps, this toy uses detailing in its silky smooth silicone to give it a sleek and luxurious appearance. While I call it a clitoral stimulator, technically it is a vibrator, since that is the type of motor it contains, however since Vibease’s intention is for you to apply the two tongue-like flaps to yourself for stimulation, just like the ZALO Amorette and SVAKOM Siren, I believe calling it a stimulator is more accurate. At the other end of the toy is then a geometric-style pattern in the silicone, which it seems each of the Jewel Collection toys feature, and here is where you will also find the product’s single button and charging port. Additionally, at the very end of this there is a clear piece of ABS plastic, and this is where the product’s light will appear. As with all great products the Ruby is body-safe and USB rechargeable, however it is only water-resistant rather than waterproof, and disappointingly is not compatible with Vibease’s phone application like their previous products (nor is the rest of the Jewel Collection).

Vibease Ruby

My order for the Vibease Ruby was placed around the 10th of February and I promptly received it on 23rd. While there was no mention of Vibease themselves on the box, the contents were listed as “handheld massager”, and so this may be a big issue for you if discretion is important. The packaging for the Ruby was then quite simple, coming in a small black cardboard box which featured some information on the toy alongside a clear window, allowing you to see the product within. Opening this up then presents you with the toy, as well as a small instruction manual and charging cord. Overall I am happy with all of this and feel it reflects the mid-range price of the product well. In addition, the Vibease Ruby also comes with a one year warranty.

Vibease Ruby Packaging

Charging the Vibease Ruby is super easy. Just plug one end of the cord into a USB port and the other end into the hole on the side of the toy. When charging a light will flash on the toy, and once fully charged this light will become steady. The first charge should take around 3 hours, and then subsequent charging will only take 2, giving you around 3 hours of play time at a full charge.

Since there is only one button on the Vibease Ruby it is pretty easy to understand and start using straight away without having to look at the instructions. Just one click of the button will turn on the Ruby, placing it on its lowest steady speed. Pressing the button again will then allow you to cycle through all of the Ruby’s modes, 3 of which are steady speeds and 4 of which are patterns. When done you can then hold down the button for three seconds, which will turn it off again. I’m pretty happy with all of this and it is all quite standard for a single-button sex toy, however if I had to nitpick it would be that I wish the button needed to be held down for a second or two to turn on, as the instant turn on is not very travel-friendly, and on the flip side I wish it took slightly less time to turn the toy off, as I like being able to turn sex toys off quickly when I’m trying to be discreet.

Vibease Ruby Charging Port

Upon turning the Vibease Ruby on for the first time I wasn’t fully sure what to expect. While my previous toys from Vibease had good motors, this toy is unlike a traditional clitoral vibrator in that its aim is to transfer its vibrations through its tongue-like flaps, so that when your clitoris is placed between them it is surrounded by the stimulation. While this idea isn’t exactly new, it has recently become more trendy as companies such as ZALO and Zumio continue to pioneer new ways of achieving it, most notably by creating flaps and arms that actually move back and forth, rather than just transferring vibrations. For companies like Vibease, however, who don’t have that sort of technology, this is still a good, albeit subpar, way of keeping up with the trend. Once the Ruby was on I must admit I was disappointed to find quite buzzy and weak vibrations contained within it, however while these could be barely felt in the shaft of the toy, I was surprisingly quite impressed with just how well they transferred through the Ruby’s flaps and the amount of movement they give to them. Then, in regards to noise level, the Ruby is relatively quiet, and I think this would be a toy you could use comfortably behind a closed door.

Can you spot the Ruby’s button?

While I can see the potential of a toy like the Vibease Ruby, sadly the two toys I’ve previously reviewed that are most similar to it, being the ZALO Amorette and SVAKOM Siren, I could barely orgasm from. I found the sensations of the dual flaps pleasurable, but still not enough to bring me to climax, and so I can’t say I wasn’t concerned when preparing for my first test with the Ruby. Indeed, it seems my fears were well placed when I started using it, as the sensations it gave were extremely subtle and buzzy, and it was almost as if I couldn’t even feel it. Moving it closer to my clitoris didn’t help either, as that just seemed to dilute the vibrations even more. But just as I felt like giving up something surprising happened… I orgasmed!! Since then every one of my tests has been similar to this, although each time I do grow more accustomed to the delicate flaps vibrating quickly over me. But while I can orgasm from it, it is not the most satisfying of climaxes, since when using it I constantly crave more sensation, and so when I do finally finish it feels as if I have been teased. For some people this is a sensation they enjoy, and it is particularly good for foreplay, but personally it just leaves me feeling mostly unsatisfied, and I usually end up reaching for my Womanizer Premium afterwards to properly finish myself off. Despite all of this, perhaps the biggest downside to the Ruby in use is simply locating its button. With only the faintest of indications that it is there (a small circle on the silicone amongst the geometric pattern), the Ruby’s button is both hard to find by sight and touch, even in broad daylight. So you can imagine what it’s like to try and find in the dark or under the covers during use, and as such I’m constantly having to stop using it to try and find the damn thing every time I want to change speeds (and even then it still takes me a while to find it). It would have made more sense and been a lot easier to use if the button was located at the base of the toy, as is the case with similar designs (in fact when I first got the Ruby I thought this was the button, and couldn’t work out why the toy wasn’t turning on!), especially since the light would have illuminated it. Or at the very least it would have been good if the light was located over it (another very common sex toy design feature) so that you can find it in the dark.

As the Vibease Ruby is only water-resistant, rather than waterproof, you do need to put some care in when cleaning it, but as it is an external toy this isn’t too bad. Just wipe any areas that have gotten messy down with some warm soapy water, and then rinse and leave to dry. Afterwards, since it doesn’t really pick up much dust, you can store it however you want. Finally, make sure to not use silicone-based lubricant with this product, as it may react badly to the silicone it is made of, but if you do then first perform a spot test.

Vibease Ruby
The base really looks like a button.

The Vibease Ruby is a simple toy and, other than the button, I don’t really have any complaints about it. It worked well and did its job, which is more than I can say for some products, but there wasn’t anything about it that wow’d me, and that is a shame considering how much I adore this company. It’s important to note though that this type of stimulation is one that I know from previous toys that I don’t enjoy much, but even then I found that I enjoyed the Ruby far more than both of those other toys, even though they are almost double its price. As such, I do believe that if you are someone who does enjoy subtle or teasing sensations, or perhaps if you’re looking to heighten your foreplay, then this would be a brilliant product for you at a much lower price point than you’ll likely find from other brands! But, if I had to request just one thing from Vibease, it would be to make your buttons stand out!

Sadly, the Vibease Ruby has now been discontinued.
