Last time at the blog we were taking a look at sustainability in the sex toy industry and what products are currently making a difference, namely the new Lovehoney X Love Not War Amore. Designed as a modular toy so you only need one set of electronics across the entire range (even if it’s currently not being sold as such), Love Not War aimed to reduce both the waste and cost associated with their toys. But while it may not look as fancy, the idea of being able to take one core toy and then transforming it into a range of different styles has been around for years thanks to sleeve attachments. This concept has always intrigued me personally, but aside from the fairly out there Uberrime Tentare Tentacle, there is a distinct lack of reviews for them at my blog. Why? Well I have given these sorts of things a go at conventions and stores, and I’ve always been seriously unimpressed at just how well the vibrations transfer through. But when I heard Femme Funn, makers of the popular Ultra Bullet, were releasing their own version named the Versa earlier this year, and For Her Box offered it to me for review, I figured it was time to finally give bullet sleeves a proper go.

Last year my partner and I had the pleasure of reviewing Hot Octopuss’s amazing masturbator meets couples toy, the PULSE III DUO, which has since been renamed as simply the PULSE DUO. Completely unique to anything I’ve ever tried before, it was a huge stand out for me, but as my partner’s first ever toy in general, it was a big deal. Unfortunately, though, right after that review our lives got pretty busy, we moved house and he took on a new full-time job, and so the PULSE DUO sadly got tucked away into his underwear drawer and mostly forgotten about. This year, however, we (like everybody else) have had a lot more time on our hands, and when lockdown started one of the first things my partner asked me was, “What ever happened to that Hot Octopuss toy?”. Well, I was more than happy to remind him of its location, but I also knew that a newer version, dubbed the PULSE DUO LUX, had recently been released, and asked if he would be interested in trying it with me, to which I received a resounding yes. Luckily the lovely folks over at Hot Octopuss were then kind enough to send one out for review, thus making our self-isolation a hell of a lot more fun!

Review: ZALO Amorette

I have been lusting after ZALO’s Sweet Magic line for years. You see, unlike most other toy brands, ZALO splits their products into collections, which are each inspired by a different theme. Since I tend to review new products though, so far I’ve only tried their latest range, the Legend Series, which takes its aesthetic cues from ancient Egypt. I loved those products and they really helped to establish ZALO as one of the best companies in the industry, but really it just made me want to try the Sweet Magic line even more. Based on the anime magical girls I grew up with, like Sailor Moon and Cardcaptor Sakura, I felt like these toys were made for me. But despite all this, Sweet Magic is a fairly old range, and as such it seemed unlikely I would be asked to review anything from it. So you can imagine my excitement when ZALO recently announced they would be adding a new toy to the collection! Plus, not just any toy, but the Amorette, a absolutely beautiful egg-style vibrator that truly looks like nothing I’ve ever seen before.

For my current review series, where I’ve been taking a look at the different styles of the panty vibe, I’ve spoken a bit about the recent spike in popularity that this otherwise out-dated toy has been experiencing as of late. So this week I thought it would be appropriate to take a look at the toy that seemed to start this trend, one that also happens to be the original inspiration for this series. If you think of the best clitoral vibrators in the industry, your mind (if you think like me anyway) will likely go to the We-Vibe Tango and Touch, so it makes sense that this innovative new toy comes from the same company. Titled Moxie, this is We-Vibe’s first attempt at an external panty vibe of this sort, and as far as I know also the first toy to implement magnets in such a way, as they are what hold this toy in place rather than the more traditional use of compatible underwear. Plus, We-Vibe have not only given us the gift of magnets with the Moxie, but have taken things one step further by also giving us all the control methods, as this toy is compatible with both a remote and app.

Forecasting and predicting trends is a big part of being a sex toy reviewer. I’m always looking out for what is, or what I believe is going to be, the most popular thing, so that my posts stay relevant and can be helpful to as many people as possible. There are always going to be the classic toys, such as rabbits and bullet vibrators, that stay strong all year round. But then there are also new innovations, such as the game-changing suction technology pioneered by Satisfyer and Womanizer over the last few years, or the more recent tongue imitators (for lack of a better term) that brands such as Zumio, ZALO and Svakom are experimenting with. I’ve been wanting to expand into reviewing products designed for the penis, testicles, and prostate for years. But as it’s not something I can do myself, it was starting to seem like it was never gong to happen. I haven’t ever met anyone I felt I could trust to do the job professionally enough for me, and sex toys aren’t something my partner has ever shown interest in for himself. That was, however, until Hot Octopuss contacted me about reviewing for them and I showed him the PULSE range. Hot Octopuss are a brand who excel at marketing, and he was quickly drawn in by how cool and modern their website is, as well as the sleek design of their multi-award winning toy. For the first time he actually wanted to try out a toy, and this was definitely helped by the fact that the PULSE DUO can also work for couples. So, here we are, about to jump into my first ever penis masturbator review with the help of my partner!
