I’ve tested hundreds of sex toys at this point, so unless a product is truly innovative, like the Snail Vibe or the first suction toys, chances are I’ve already got one or more hidden away somewhere. Because of this, it’s usually the small things that catch my interest when I’m looking at products to review, rather than the toy itself. Exciting new features, such as WOW Tech’s Smart Silence and advanced phone app functions, are easier to come by than someone literally inventing an original sex toy, and one such feature that I’ve been dying to see on a vibrator for awhile now is a proper LED screen. From phones to air fryers, it feels like everything has some form of electronic display screen these days… except for sex toys. But if anyone was going to do it, it was ZALO.
Review: ZALO BESS
It’s no secret that the design aesthetic ZALO brings to this industry is one of my all-time favourites. In the four years I’ve been working with them they have not only consistently released some of the most beautiful electronics there is, but their innovative ideas and exemplary packaging have been unrivalled. From their Sweet Magic series, inspired by the beautiful anime magical girls I grew up watching, to their more recent Legend line, featuring ancient Egyptian design cues that speak directly to the history buff in me, I can’t say enough good things about the way ZALO present their products and brand. But there is something else I’ve brought up time and time again when speaking about their products, and that is that they always try to do too much, and rather than having a single product that can do one thing perfectly, they end up with a toy that can do many things averagely. In fact, my previous review for them was actually my most positive yet, and saw them enter my Top 10 of the year for the first time, despite the fact that it was the oldest toy I had tried so far, making me call for a return to their more simplified roots. So when I recently heard about their brand new Legend series toy, the BESS, I was all for it, but I can’t say I wasn’t worried!
Review: ZALO HERO
Confidence is sexy. So when I received a press release from ZALO a few weeks ago that introduced themselves as “the leading luxury sex toy manufacturer” I was both surprised and intrigued. For a company who only branched out to the western market a few years ago, they are still considered by many the new kid on the block, that is if you even know who they are. ZALO’s products are beautiful and their packaging is exquisite, and even though I’ve only tried one of their toys, the Queen, I loved it. But “the leading luxury sex toy manufacturer”? That’s a bold claim. It is one, however, I expected them to at least be able to back up, and that is what got me first interested in the toy that the press release featured. It was HERO, their “newest and most advanced” toy yet, and as the second toy in their Legend series it was also the follow-up to the success of the Queen. Of course, with this I knew I had to get my hands on the HERO, and I was lucky enough to have ZALO and JOUJOU team up to send it my way.
Review: ZALO Queen Set
Back in 2017 I worked with a Chinese sex toy manufacturer that was looking to reach out to the western market. Their name was ZALO, and their products were like nothing I’ve ever seen before. While their designs weren’t particularly new, the actual appearance of their products were amazing, taking design cues from Versailles and Lolita styles (which these collections are adequately named after) to create a range of products fit for a princess, or even a magical girl if you check out their Sweet Magic collection. I promoted ZALO as a sponsor for 3 months, and spent every minute of it lusting after their products, but my tight schedule back then meant I never actually got to test anything. Since then I’ve heard nothing but good things about the company and their US expansion, with their newly released Queen Set winning the coveted Luxury Pleasure Product of the Year award at XBIZ Europa. So when JOUJOU recently approached me to review it, therefore finally giving me the opportunity to try a ZALO toy for myself, what do you think I said?
