Navigating the world of sex toys as a non-binary queer person is not easy. Go to almost any online sex store, and you’ll see a menu with categories like “female”, “male”, “couples”, “gay” and “lesbian”. But where do I fit? I could choose female, my gender assigned at birth, but what if I want a toy I can use solo and with a partner, and what if I don’t know the gender of said partner? It gives me a headache just thinking about it, and that’s as someone with almost a decade of experience in the industry. So I can’t imagine the difficulties that arise for someone new to all this, regardless of how you identify. Because at the end of the day, it’s all bullshit. Sex toys have no gender or sexuality, and the vast majority of them can be used by anyone, regardless of your genitals or preference of partner. So when Betty’s Toy Box (one of the few retailers doing the right thing by categorising toys by type and which body part they stimulate) recently introduced me to Evolved Novelties’ new brand Gender X, which offers a range of gender-neutral sex toys, I signed right up to review the Sunflower.
Review: Funzze Flower Tongue
It was a little over a year ago that I had the pleasure of reviewing the viral Rose Vibe. I had no idea what to expect from a toy TikTok had dubbed the “soul snatcher”, but it didn’t take me long to realise that this was no exaggeration. Since then, this white-label toy and its two siblings, which are now most commonly known as The Rose, The Bloom and The Kiss after US distributor NS Novelties acquired them for their INYA brand, have continued to gain popularity as their availability has soared. So, considering my love for “The Rose”, with it even coming in at Number 5 on my Top 10 of Sex Toys of 2021, it seemed only right that I review another one of these toys, and thanks to retailer Funzze that’s exactly what I’m doing today with The Kiss, or as they like to call it, the Flower Tongue.
Review: Womanizer Marilyn Monroe
Of the five core products in Womanizer’s current portfolio, there is only one I have yet to try. The Classic 2, which offers a step up from the Womanizer Liberty while not being quite as powerful as the Premium, has managed to elude my grasp so far. In fact, I had a similar experience with its predecessor, and when I finally did get one, it was sadly discontinued before I could review it. So when I recently heard Womanizer were bringing out a limited edition version of the Classic 2, and Lovehoney asked if I’d like to try it out, I was more than a little excited, not wanting history to repeat. However, the Womanizer Marilyn Monroe Special Edition has since proven to be quite the controversial release, with some fans of the late actress and model praising the German brand for honouring her legacy of empowerment, whilst others have condemned it, noting that her inability to consent to the use of her name runs parallel to the objectification she suffered during her lifetime.
Review: Honey Play Box Pomi Wand
Over the last year or so it feels like we have been watching the resurgence of the mini wand massager. Long a popular option for those who enjoy the power that comes with these larger toys, without the privacy concerns and inconvenience that they inevitably bring, they have in the past been a way for manufacturers to provide massager-style options without doubling down on a product type that has some fierce competition. But with both the Hitachi Magic Wand Rechargeable and Doxy Massager now getting smaller versions of their iconic wands, this genre of sex toy has quickly begun to capture people’s attention again. So today I thought we would take a look at Honey Play Box’s recent contribution, with a wand that’s here to prove that good things really do come in small packages.
Review: Doxy Bullet
Way back in 2017 I published a post talking all about the top new sex toys that I wanted. Half designed as a space for me to express my excitement over new releases and share the news with you all, and half intended as a *wink wink* to brands, the second part didn’t exactly work out considering I never ended up getting any of them. That is until late last year anyway, when I finally reviewed the Doxy Die Cast 3R, the smaller version of the UK brand’s popular massager wand. On that list, however, there were actually two Doxy products featured, and I couldn’t help but feel a sense of disappointment that the long awaited Doxy Bullet never came to pass when reviewing the wand last year. So, you can imagine my surprise when out of seemingly nowhere, Doxy finally released it to the world just a few months ago!
Review: Allovers 4-in-1 Thruster
Over the last few weeks I’ve been taking a look at a string of new product types at the blog, from grinders, rotating panty toys, and even seated vibrators! But today’s review really takes the cake for the most elaborate new category of sex toy that I’ve been game enough to try. Sent to me by blog sponsor AcmeJoy, the Allovers 4-in-1 Thruster is the first realistic electronic toy that I’ve tried, combining the phallic dildos that I so adore with thrusting powers for the first time. But it’s not just that, because as the name suggests, this toy offers four unique functions! In addition to the thrusting, there is also vibrations, rotating, and heating, making this multi-purpose vibe one of the most versatile I’ve seen.
