Honey Play Box Pomi Wand

Over the last year or so it feels like we have been watching the resurgence of the mini wand massager. Long a popular option for those who enjoy the power that comes with these larger toys, without the privacy concerns and inconvenience that they inevitably bring, they have in the past been a way for manufacturers to provide massager-style options without doubling down on a product type that has some fierce competition. But with both the Hitachi Magic Wand Rechargeable and Doxy Massager now getting smaller versions of their iconic wands, this genre of sex toy has quickly begun to capture people’s attention again. So today I thought we would take a look at Honey Play Box’s recent contribution, with a wand that’s here to prove that good things really do come in small packages.

Product Description

Here you can see one of the indents on the silicone, for which there are many more.

A combination of the words “powerful” and “mini”, the Honey Play Box Pomi Wand is a 17cm / 6.7″ long mini massager that boasts strong vibrations that can apparently even compete with a full-sized wand. With a simple design primarily made up of two basic shapes, a sphere for the head and cylinder for the handle, it looks almost like a child’s toy, and this combined with its pink colouration is giving me full Barbie Dreamhouse. Honey Play Box also offers it in a mix of pink and white, red and black, and gray and black, making mine the only style with just one colour, which, while not as dynamic, actually still looks pretty cool. The handle is a glossy ABS plastic, capped with a darker reflective portion, and on the front of this you’ll find the Honey Play Box logo and a single-button control, whilst on the back are the magnetic plates for the charger. At the top is then the semi-flexible wand head, which is made of a firm silicone with absolutely no give to it, and this comes in at 4.8cm / 1.9″ in diameter. It is also the only real downside to the Pomi Wand’s appearance, with a light seam and a few lumps which take away from how perfectly round it looks otherwise, although neither of these issues are noticeable during use. Finally, the toy is also USB rechargeable, waterproof and 100% body-safe.

Packaging

Honey Play Box Pomi Wand Packaging

My order with Honey Play Box for the Pomi Wand was placed on the 20th of July and I finally received it by the 15th of August, which, as with my previous order with them, was a significant wait. Then, whilst I know discreet shipping is something Honey Play Box pride themselves on, the box was also labeled as containing a “personal healthy massager”, which was disappointing. As for the packaging of the Pomi Wand itself, it was then mostly what I expected from the retailer, following the same branding as the “upgraded” Crave I received from them in early July (rather than the one I reviewed), with a simple but high-quality cardboard box featuring an image of the toy alongside some information on it. Opening this up, I then found the Pomi Wand resting safely in foam, alongside its charging cord and instruction manual, and I was happy with how all of this was presented. Additionally, the Pomi Wand also comes with a one year warranty.

Charging

Charging the Honey Play Box Pomi Wand is easy since it is USB rechargeable. Simply plug one end of the cord into a USB port, and the other can then be connected magnetically to the toy’s charging plates, although do be careful as the connection strength on these is fairly weak, meaning the cord can disconnect quite easily. You’ll also need to make sure you place it on its side so you can see the LED light on the Pomi Wand’s button (as this is located on the exact opposite side of the plates), with a light flashing to indicate the toy is on charge and becoming solid upon completion. Charging the product should then take two hours, which will give you around one hour of play time, and Honey Play Box recommend doing this prior to first use.

Controls

With just one button, controlling the Honey Play Box Pomi Wand is very straightforward and doesn’t even really require the instructions. Simply hold down the button for 1.5 seconds to turn the toy on, which will place it on its first steady speed. You can then continue clicking this to cycle through the ten modes, with three being steady speeds and seven being patterns, and finally hold the button down again to turn the toy back off. Being the standard for a single-button vibrator, I was very pleased with how all this worked, with it being a familiar and well-loved form of control, even if it’s usually more usually seen in bullet vibes than wand massagers.

First Impressions

Let’s face it, my last review of a Honey Play Box product was not good. So my verdict of the Pomi Wand has a lot riding on it, as it’s a last chance for my site sponsor to show me their products are actually up to snuff. Thankfully though, when turning on the massager for the first time, I was actually quite impressed by the level of power that came out of it, with strong, rumbly vibrations on the first two levels, and a slightly buzzier version on the third. As for the noise level, this is definitely a downside, being quite loud despite the fact that being near-silent is usually one of the main advantages to mini massagers. So even though it might not be as loud as full-size wands like the Magic Wand Rechargeable, it still wouldn’t be ideal if you do require privacy.

My Experience

Honey Play Box Pomi Wand Back

With such a strong initial steady speed combined with an unusually firm silicone head, it can take a bit of time to adjust when first using the Honey Play Box Pomi Wand. Once you do however, this one speed provides an immensely pleasurable experience, being a perfect mix of power and bass-like rumbles to ensure for vibrations that penetrate far below the surface level. The next speed then only has a slight increase in strength, whilst the third feels like I might as well have turned the vibrator off altogether, becoming so buzzy that I can no longer feel anything. Plus, another issue I noticed is that while I like the bullet-style controls, I am unaccustomed to having to wait to turn a wand massager on and off, with most having multiple buttons so that this can be done instantly. This is due to the fact that I usually edge with wands, and even though it’s only 1.5 seconds, it has made my use of the Pomi Wand feel a bit disjointed. However, I quickly realised that these problems could resolve each other, as if I only use the first level then I don’t need to worry about trying to reduce the wand’s speed or the buzzy vibes. Once I started doing this, my experience with the Pomi Wand got a lot better, and since then I have thoroughly enjoyed testing this product, with orgasms feeling extremely satisfying, and even a little bit addictive! Plus, while it still can’t really compete with most larger massagers, I can’t deny that it is exceptional for its size, and one of the better mini massagers I have tried.

Cleaning & Care

Since it is waterproof, you can quickly clean the Honey Play Box Pomi Wand by simply wiping it down with some warm soapy water when you’re done, before rinsing and leaving it to dry. After that you can store it however you want since it’s for external use anyway, plus the silicone it is made of doesn’t attract lint. Finally, make sure to not use silicone-based lubricant with this product, as it may react badly to the silicone it is made of, but if you do then first perform a spot test.

Final Thoughts

Honey Play Box Pomi Wand Handle

The Honey Play Box Pomi Wand has been a most enjoyable product to test out and review, easily coming in as one of the best mini wand massagers I have ever tried. While it didn’t quite live up to its statement of “unrivaled power” against other popular massagers, because of course it didn’t, it still has an impressive motor for a product of its size, and its ability to harness such deeply rumbly vibrations for its first speed was great to see, and even better to use. If I could change one thing (other than a quieter motor), it would be to get rid of the third speed altogether, and instead replace it with a lower first speed for those who may find the toy too powerful, as with such a firm head this may not be suited to those who are overly sensitive. But considering the Pomi Wand has such a low price tag, I think it’s understandable that it isn’t 100% perfect, and that’s okay. So, for anyone looking to get their first massager, or those just who want a smaller option for travel or convenience sake, this may be your match.
