OSUGA Flow

For such a cute sex toy, the OSUGA Cuddly Bird sure had a lot of drama attached to it. So much so that when I reviewed it back in 2021, I had to do a deep dive into figuring out who actually made this toy, something you think would be easy. Luckily, it just so happened to be the brand I had agreed to review it for, and since then it has been a pleasure to watch OSUGA flourish, despite what could have very easily been seen as a regrettable venture into the sex industry for the Chinese company. Rather, they’ve continued to push the boundaries when it comes to mixing aesthetics with pleasure, and I’m always amazed at the unique designs they release. So, when they recently got back in touch and asked if I wanted to review their quirky new Flow vibrator, I was immediately hooked.

Triple Stimulation?

The OSUGA Flow is a triple-stimulator. This is a term I don’t hear very often and usually refers to a product that stimulates the anus, G-Spot and clitoris, as opposed to a normal dual-stimulator that just provides pleasure to the last two. But the Flow clearly isn’t intended for anal play, and with the website offering no further hints (or barely any information about the toy), I went into this review still unsure what OSUGA were on about. When it arrived, I was then very surprised to find out that they are actually referring to the urethral opening. I’ve never seen a vaginal sex toy even mention the urethra before, and I suppose if you use that logic then many dual-stimulators also provide vibrations to this area. But since I haven’t actually felt any kind of sensation here before, I just dismissed it as a marketing tactic rather than an actual feature and moved on with my review. In fact, I wrote the entire first draft of this post and tested the toy multiple times before I realised just how much OSUGA had doubled-down on it. Because if you pay close attention to the instructions and the “how to use” animation on their website, you’ll notice that what I thought was the toy’s clitoral arm is actually intended for the urethra, whilst what I thought was the handle is designed to rest against the clitoris. I definitely feel like OSUGA have done a bad job of communicating this fact, as I must have read over the instructions, packaging and website around ten times in preparation for my review (since I was already finding the Flow so confusing) before I finally put two and two together.

Product Description

Even without the triple stimulation confusion, the OSUGA Flow’s unusual shape is a clear hint that all is not as it seems with this toy. Rather than having the small external arm facing towards the internal arm like a typical rabbit, it instead points towards the buttons (causing me to repeatedly get confused about which side is which). The whole thing is then rather small and features a broad curve, reminding me of toys like the SenseMax SenseVibe and Womanizer DUO. An entirely unique trait, though, is the concave sides of the G-Spot arm, a design choice that helps to reinforce the toy’s namesake, with lines that flow from one end of the toy to the other. The bulbous but pointed handle / clitoral arm then features two raised buttons, and on the other side of this you’ll find the OSUGA logo indented in the silicone and metal plates for the magnetic charger to connect to. The Flow is silky smooth and very flexible, with a small amount of squish, and comes in three colours, purple (which is what I have), pink and white. Plus, it is also USB rechargeable, body-safe and waterproof. Finally, another factor that makes this product stand out is the way it is intended to be used, as OSUGA have designed this toy especially for edging play and multiple orgasms, with its unique Rest Mode being akin to an autopilot setting.

Packaging

OSUGA Flow packaging

My order for the Flow was placed with OSUGA on the 1st of July and I received it promptly on the 4th. Unfortunately, whilst OSUGA was not listed as the sender, the contents were listed as “Flow Rabbit Vibrator” on the box, making it sadly not discreet. The box for the toy was then similar to what I received with the Cuddly Bird even though it’s been a few years. Almost entirely white on five sides, with the brand name and silhouette of the toy debossed into the front, it is both minimalist and somewhat discreet. On the back things are then a bit more normal, providing plenty of information about what the toy can do, as well as a QR code that is half covered by a scratchable area, allowing you to verify the product after purchase. Pulling from the side, the front then opens up to reveal the Flow resting safely in foam. This can then be removed, and under it is an accessories compartment that includes a plain high-quality storage pouch, instruction manual, and charging cord. In addition, the OSUGA Flow also comes with a one year warranty.

Charging

OSUGA Flow charging

Charging the OSUGA Flow is easy since it is USB rechargeable. Simply plug one end of the cord into a USB port and the other end will connect magnetically to the metal plates on the toy. Unfortunately though the connection strength isn’t the strongest, so you do need to be careful how you place it down to ensure it stays charging. Plus, there is no information available about its charging times or battery length, other than a statement on the box that says “long battery life”. This is frustrating and the sort of exclusion of details that makes me concerned. But so far I have not had the toy die on me since my initial charge, which means it cannot be too bad. When on charge the indicator light between the buttons will pulsate, becoming solid once the battery is full. Plus, when the battery has less than 10% charge left, this light will flash.

Controls

The first time I tried the OSUGA Flow was before I had properly read the toy’s instructions. This is a regular part of my reviewing process, allowing me to see how intuitive and user friendly a toy is, and it’s been quite some time since I’ve been as confused as I was trying the Flow. So you’ll definitely want to have the instructions with you the first few times you try it. This all comes back to its unusual edging design, with the toy offering two modes: Boost Mode and Rest Mode. Boost Mode, which is controlled via the button with the power symbol, is essentially just the traditional method of controlling a vibrator, despite the name. To turn it on, all you need to do is press it once, which will place you on the lowest steady speed. You can then continue clicking to cycle through four steady speeds and seven patterns, and once done you can hold it down to turn it back off. The toy’s two motors, which are located within the G-Spot arm and the clitoral arm, with the urethral arm working off the residual vibrations, are thus controlled together, and sadly cannot be operated independently. Rest Mode, on the other hand, is much more like an autopilot mode. Turning it off and on is the same as Boost Mode, and at any time you can switch between the two modes by pressing the corresponding button, which for Boost Mode is a rotation symbol. This then has four settings you can flick between, and they are essentially slowed down patterns, with the vibrations slowly coming and going like waves so that they may gently massage you. Overall, once I read the instructions I understood how to use the OSUGA Flow a lot better, but something that would have really helped, and would continue to, was if the symbols on the buttons actually related at all to what they are supposed to do. Additionally, the OSUGA Flow also has a travel lock, which can be activated or deactivated by pressing both buttons simultaneously for 1.5 seconds (a much shorter time than most, making it more likely to unlock itself accidentally).

First Impressions

I’ve already spoken a lot about my first impressions of the OSUGA Flow. But yes, my time with it has been almost entirely filled with confusion. Between the misunderstanding of the urethral stimulation and the confusing controls, there were points where I had no idea what was going on with this product. At one point, I even started to think it had rotations due to the symbol on Rest Mode’s button! Another reason for this was due to the noises it makes when on, for which I have nicknamed it Ghost Mode. Why? Because it 100% sounds like it has been possessed and is haunting me during use, and also kinda like it is rotating. Outside of all this, I have been very impressed with the vibrations, which are super rumbly and deep. It is, however, loud, and I suppose that is one upside to Rest Mode’s odd noises, since at least they are quieter in comparison and sound less like a traditional vibrator. But overall it does mean that this isn’t the best toy if you need to be discreet.

My Experience

Whilst I’ve always been intrigued by sounding toys, never once have I considered my urethra when it comes to my own pleasure. Hell, I’m not even certain exactly where it is located! So I really had no idea what I was getting into with the OSUGA Flow, but I figure if this was some kind of special stimulation point, I would have felt something, or at least heard about it, at some point in my almost ten years of sex toy reviewing. Plus, like I mentioned earlier, I tried this toy twice before even realising it was supposed to be used in this way, just naturally placing the protruding arm on my clitoris. Anyway, inserting the Flow, I can immediately tell that it is too shallow to hit my G-Spot. I could probably get it if I could angle it just right, but because the start of the shaft is hollow (one of my all-time least favourite traits on any G-Spot vibrator) I am entirely unable to place any force on it. Not that it would really help me, because it would mean sacrificing any clitoral contact. And this is thankfully where the toy shines. Placing the tip of the handle to my clitoris and leaving the urethral arm to rest just under this, it feels like the Flow is giving my vulva a long, satisfying hug. This makes it perfect for hands-free play, as all I need to do is close my legs to keep it in place. Turning the vibrations on, I am then able to fully enjoy how rumbly they are, and even though my G-Spot is mostly left out, rocking the Flow back and forth still creates a wonderful sensation that is highly orgasmic. Although when it comes to my urethra, unsurprisingly I cannot really feel anything except perhaps a little tingle, which is vastly outshined by the stimulation happening everywhere else.

OSUGA Flow close up

In addition, I also tested out Rest Mode and tried edging with the Flow. I am a big lover of edging in particular, and have spoken about it frequently at the blog, often critiquing toys on how well they work with it. According to OSUGA’s instructions, the Flow is intended to be started in Rest Mode in order to get you in the mood, then switched to Boost Mode to reach climax, removing and reinserting it frequently throughout to edge, before putting it back in Rest Mode to help you relax before going for your next orgasm. I tried this out and actually really enjoyed it, although it seems much more directed at bringing about multiple orgasms than anything else. Using Rest Mode whilst edging makes a lot more sense than removing it, and I particularly love that it is instant, with function delays usually being the biggest problem I have when it comes to edging. So for both this and multiple orgasms, Rest Mode is a win for me, even with those sounds.

Cleaning & Care

OSUGA seems confused about whether the Flow is waterproof. It is listed as such on the box, and it also notes the toy is IPX7, which means it is protected against immersion for 30 minutes at a depth of up to one metre. But the instructions state “avoid immersing … it’s waterproof but not suited for strong jets or deep water over 30cm”. This doesn’t make any sense and is very confusing, especially considering the IPX rating. So for those being extra cautious, I would recommend you treat the Flow as only water-resistant, but personally I have been immersing it and had no issues so far. To clean, you’ll then want to wash it over with some soapy water, before rinsing and leaving to air dry. You can then return it to the storage bag it came in for safe keeping. Plus, make sure to avoid using silicone-based lubricants with this product, as they may damage the material it is made out of.

Final Thoughts

OSUGA Flow storage bag

The OSUGA Flow is a good sex toy. But my experience has been far from it. And this ultimately comes down to the way OSUGA’s marketing team has failed to clearly communicate its features, which in part feels like it is because they themselves aren’t quite sure what this toy is. The first red flag is the website, which has barely any of the information I usually look for when it comes to buying a sex toy, such as battery length and whether it is waterproof. But instead of those questions being answered upon receiving the product, things just got weirder. And whilst I admit much of my testing was hindered by the fact that I clearly misunderstood the nature of the Flow, I don’t feel like I’ve done something wrong as a reviewer, because not only is part of my process going in blind (because let’s face it, most people don’t closely read the instructions before using a toy), but I also then put substantial effort into figuring it out and still didn’t get it until after I had written my first draft of this review, something that should not be a requirement to enjoy a sex toy. If we ignore all of this though, I did have a really great time using the OSUGA Flow and many, many orgasms. It may not have paired perfectly with my G-Spot, and my urethra was unprepared for so much attention, but the rumbly vibrations on my clitoris made it a match made in heaven for hands-free play. Plus, whilst the ghostlike sounds of the Rest Mode confused me at first, I really appreciated this function for both edging and multiple orgasms. Thankfully for you, dear reader, I’ve done all of the hard work, since if you have read this far into the review then you will now be able to enjoy the Flow knowing exactly what it is made for and how to use it. So with that in mind, I do recommend the Flow for any edging-lovers looking for a dual-stimulator. But, for all of the poor souls who don’t visit my website, I really implore OSUGA to update the listing on their website ASAP to help clear up all of this confusion!
