Womanizer X Lovehoney Pro40

Let me take you on a journey… It’s 2015 and baby sex toy reviewer Grace has just made her blog and is starting to get a good understanding of the adult industry. But then something happens that sends shock waves throughout the reviewer community. An innovative new type of sex toy is released that boasts “suction” technology, from a brand with possibly the worst name ever. Everyone wanted to hate the Womanizer W100, not only because of the name, but also due to its horrendous design and outrageous price tag, but those who tested it found that it was actually surprisingly good. Then came along another company with the similarly stupid name of Satisfyer who copied this new technology, but by offering it for less and using better designs, they quickly became more popular than the original. Subsequently, in 2016 Womanizer clapped back with the release of their Pro40, which used a more stylish and budget-friendly version of their tech, evening the playing field and winning over hearts once more. These days suction toys are everywhere, but this is the original feud that catapulted the tech into what it is today, and the battle between these two brands continues. Yet as Satisfyer keep cutting costs while still somehow producing good quality products, Womanizer’s more luxury-style toys have seemed to fall behind once more, especially with the discontinuation of their popular Pro40. So when Lovehoney announced their collaboration with Womanizer to bring the Pro40 back a few weeks ago, you can imagine the fanfare it was met with.

Apologies for the history lesson, but I am just so incredibly excited to be reviewing this product. Like I mentioned above, suction toys became a thing just as I was starting blogging, so I’ve had a front row seat the last four years to watch the rise of the clitoral stimulator. I desperately wanted to try both the Satisfyer and Womanizer toys when I first started, and while I’ve been lucky enough to have now reviewed five Satisfyer products, this will be my very first Womanizer. After four years of waiting for this moment I am predictably enthusiastic, and feel like I could write for hours before I even get to the actual review, so I’ll try to restrain myself. As with any brand I have heard a range of different opinions on the Womanizer toys over the years, but the general consensus seems to have been that the Pro40 was very good, so you can imagine my disappointment when it was discontinued, and then my excitement when Lovehoney told me that not only were they bringing it back, but that they’d like me to review it. But despite my obvious eagerness, I did have to wonder whether a toy from 2016 would be able to compete with today’s products in this fast-paced industry. After all, Satisfyer’s toys have evolved considerably each year, with every new version I test being better than the last. Plus, with my recent review of the Satisfyer Luxury, in which I named it one of the best sex toys I have ever tried, I honestly can’t imagine the Womanizer x Lovehoney Pro40 being able to compare. Regardless, I was still excited to find out what this toy had in store for me.

Womanizer X Lovehoney Pro40 Buttons

I’ve spoken a bit about Womanizer’s past, so let me tell you a little more about where they are now. Last year Womanizer merged with We-Vibe to create WOW Tech Group, and considering We-Vibe are one of the leading sex toy manufacturers (and creators of some of my favourite products) this was very exciting news. Since then the two companies have released a range of great toys, and their influences have been clear on each other, with We-Vibe releasing suction toy Melt, and Womanizer merging suction and G-Spot vibrations together with their DUO. Despite the DUO’s vibes, Womanizer do still focus solely on suction toys however, rather than branching out to other toys like Satisfyer have done. Additionally, the days of Swarovski crystals and animal prints also seem to be over for Womanizer, as their products these days are beautifully designed and typically feature bold colour choices that let their products be easily differentiated from Satisfyer’s generally more toned-down palettes. The announcement of their exclusive collaboration with Lovehoney a few weeks back was then another step in the right direction, as UK retailer and manufacturer is not only another favourite of mine, but is also brilliant at producing consumer-friendly toys paired with low prices and simplistic designs, which are traits Womanizer can definitely benefit from.

While I don’t have the original Pro40 to compare it to, the Womanizer x Lovehoney Pro40 seems to be pretty much the same. The most obvious difference that tells the two models apart is the colouring, as the original came with a grey body and either a pink or white back, whilst this new version comes with a rose gold body and black back. The only other visual difference is then that Womanizer have chosen to use their lettermark logo at the top of the new Pro40, rather than using their wordmark logo at the bottom as with the old model. The body of the toy is then made entirely with ABS plastic, and while this does look and feel good, I can’t help but think it makes the toy seem a little bit cheap as I am so use to feeling entirely silicone toys these days. The nozzle of the toy is silicone however, which is the only place where it really matters, and this is removal for cleaning. There is then three buttons which are all very obviously labelled, and these are raised to make their use nice and easy. Finally, this toy is both USB rechargeable and fully waterproof. Overall I love the look of this toy, it’s super simple and sleek, and the shiny rose gold body is super on trend. Also, while the buttons might look the wrong way up, they are actually positioned perfectly for use.

Womanizer X Lovehoney Pro40 Packaging

Lovehoney sent the Womanizer x Lovehoney Pro40 out to me on the 1st of August with express post, as they wanted me to receive it the same week they announced it, and as such it arrived promptly on the 5th of August. There was no mention of what was inside the box, and the sender was only listed as “LH Trading”, keeping things ultra discreet. The box for the product was then very simple, but this was not surprising as firstly it is in keeping with Lovehoney’s usual packaging, and secondly it seems to be very similar to the packaging the original Womanizer Pro40 came in. Essentially it is just a simple cardboard box which features a photo of the toy and basic information about it, and then the initial card sleeve can be pulled up to reveal the toy and its accessories. I was a bit taken aback by this at first as usually when there is a sleeve element to packaging it lifts up to reveal another more discreet box, rather than having the toy being directly behind it, but there is nothing really wrong with this and if anything it means there is less waste. Despite how basic this all is, I do find that the sleeve of the box is well designed and looks good, so I don’t feel like I am receiving a cheap low-quality product. The toy comes only with its charging cable, Womanizer product guide and instruction manual, although it is also protected by a 2 year warranty.

Charging the Womanizer x Lovehoney Pro40 is easy, just plug one end into a USB port and  the other end into the hole at the top of the toy which is covered by a small latch. While charging a LED light will flash, and once done this light will become solid. Womanizer recommend allowing 3 hours for the toy’s initial charge or after a long period of non-use. Then, frustratingly, I have not been able to find out any other information about how long the product takes to charge, nor the amount of playtime you can expect from it. This is the first time I can remember where I haven’t been able to find this info, which is incredibly annoying both for my review and as charging time vs run-time are important considerations when purchasing toys. All I can say is that I have had no issues personally with the battery length on my Pro40, and I have yet to need to recharge it since I first did so a few weeks back despite numerous testing, which suggests that whatever its battery life is, it’s probably good. One more note, however far less important, is that while the instructions specify a red light will indicate charging, it actually appears to be a green light (a red light will instead appear during use).

Womanizer X Lovehoney Pro40 Charging

Controlling the Womanizer x Lovehoney Pro40 is ultra simple, firstly because it only really has one function, secondly because its buttons are extremely well labelled, and thirdly just because it functions in a really smart way. The only downside is that the instructions aren’t entirely accurate, so I’ll go through it all here. Firstly, to turn the toy on you just need to click the power button, and this will put you on the toy’s lowest suction setting. You can then use the plus and minus buttons to increase or decrease the suction intensities, for which there are six levels. To immediately put the toy back down to its lowest level, you can press the power button again, and then to turn the toy off you can hold the power button down for two seconds. I love all of this as it’s extremely simple and works well, and I particularly like the function of pressing the power button to immediately put the toy on its lowest mode, as I don’t think I have seen this feature on a toy before, and I often like to turn suction toys down in order to ramp them back up again. My only issue, not that it is really a fault, is that I have become so accustomed to Satisfyer’s 11 intensity settings, that six feels like it’s not enough for me. Additionally, as the power button only needs to be pressed once, rather than held down, to turn this toy on, and as there is no travel lock, this may not be the best toy to travel with.

Suction toys always seem to have a problem with noise level, and this is sadly no different for the Pro40. While it isn’t quite as loud as my almost deafening Satisfyer Pro 2 and Satisfyer Luxury, it is almost on par with these, so this isn’t the sort of toy I would recommend if privacy is important to you. In regards to the suction strength, there isn’t a hugely discernible difference between this toy and my other suction products when I simply turn it on and place my finger over it, making it hard to get an idea of its abilities prior to actual use. What I can tell from my first non-use impression of it though is that the silicone nozzle has quite a small hole and lacks any cushioning around it. These features, during actual use, mean that the toy’s suction is more focused due to the narrower stimulation area, however it is also a lot less comfortable against the clitoris than a toy with a broader area of silicone around the hole, such as the Satisfyer Luxury. Additionally, the small hole also means that it can be quite difficult to place accurately over the clitoris, and you’ll often have to readjust it to ensure the suction is on right.

Womanizer X Lovehoney Pro40 Back

I really wasn’t sure what to expect the first time I tested out the Womanizer x Lovehoney Pro40. I just published my Satisfyer Luxury review a week ago, and the suction featured on that toy was so much better than any I have ever tried, that I’m pretty sure all other suction toys are now ruined for me. It was like if all my life I had eaten instant noodles thinking that was as good as it gets, and now for the first time I’ve tried actual restaurant ramen. I can’t, and won’t, go back to the dark ages of weak suction toys!! So, after that experience, I was pretty worried that the Pro40 just wasn’t going to be able to cut it for me. But I am super happy to report that I actually found the Pro40’s suction power to be super strong and rumbly. While it still doesn’t quite compare to the Luxury, it is far stronger than any of my other suction-style toys, and definitely has that ramen rather than instant noodles touch to it. Like the Luxury, I find the suction it gives to be quite thuddy and deeply penetrating, rather than the usual light sucking feeling other toys give, and because of this I can orgasm extremely quickly and easily with this toy.

Womanizer X Lovehoney Pro40 Nozzle Off

Cleaning the Pro40 is easy. Just remove the silicone head, wash it in warm soapy water and rinse. If the body of the toy is dirty too then the whole thing can be placed and washed in the water since it is waterproof. Then leave these to air dry and reassemble. I particularly like this nozzle over the others I have encountered, as it has a little notch at the top which makes it obvious which way round it’s supposed to go. I generally always put the nozzles of my other toys on the wrong way round (like putting a USB in wrong every time even though there’s a 50/50 chance), and so I find this super helpful. Once dry the toy can then be kept however you want, such as in its original packaging or in a zip lock bag. Since the head is made out of silicone ensure you don’t use silicone based lubricant with it. Be cautious when using this toy and do not overuse it as it can start to become painful after excessive use. Furthermore, I have found prolonged use of the toy can make my clitoris quite sore the next day, so I wouldn’t recommend using it excessively if you are planning on having any rigorous sex or further masturbation within the next 24 hours.

Overall, the Womanizer x Lovehoney Pro40 has been a pleasure to review. Not only was it immensely pleasurable and did its job as a clitoral stimulator perfectly, but everything about it also functioned superbly, and these two factors don’t coincide as often as you might think with sex toys. For instance, even though I adored the pleasure the Satisfyer Luxury gave me, it had a number of issues from noise level to controls. The Pro40, however, is a perfect example of a sex toy where everything has been done right. The only faults it has really are a badly written instruction manual and the fact that it’s a bit louder than I would ideally like. If it wasn’t for my review of the Luxury last week, this would easily be the best suction toy I have ever tried, but considering the difference in pleasure between the two toys isn’t massive, and the fact that the Pro40 functions better and is slightly cheaper than the Luxury, it’s definitely not a clear win for the Luxury. In fact, depending on what you want from a toy, there is certainly plenty of reasons to choose the Pro40 over it. I’m so glad Womanizer and Lovehoney partnered up to re-release this classic, as it is certainly not one to miss if you love suction toys as much as I do.
