ZALO Mose

I’ve tested hundreds of sex toys at this point, so unless a product is truly innovative, like the Snail Vibe or the first suction toys, chances are I’ve already got one or more hidden away somewhere. Because of this, it’s usually the small things that catch my interest when I’m looking at products to review, rather than the toy itself. Exciting new features, such as WOW Tech’s Smart Silence and advanced phone app functions, are easier to come by than someone literally inventing an original sex toy, and one such feature that I’ve been dying to see on a vibrator for awhile now is a proper LED screen. From phones to air fryers, it feels like everything has some form of electronic display screen these days… except for sex toys. But if anyone was going to do it, it was ZALO.

Product Description

Whilst there’s been a few attempts at LED displays over the years, primarily from luxury brands Womanizer and Lora DiCarlo, these always involved utilising the toy’s lights rather than a full display screen. But ZALO, makers of some of the most beautiful and technologically advanced sex toys on the market, have finally implemented exactly that with their new Mose. At first glance, this is a simple dual-stimulator, the first I’ve tried from the Chinese brand. But, of course, it wouldn’t be 2023 without a little thrusting action, and so this too is a thruster. And just like all my other recent thruster rabbits, the ZALO Mose is also heated, giving it that much sought after 4-in-1 title. Part of their ancient Egyptian-inspired Legend Series, which I’ve reviewed three other toys from, this product then uses similar design cues, with sleek linework and gold detailing around the LED display adding a sense of luxury, which is then reinforced by the embedded Swarovski crystal just below this. Two stylised buttons rest underneath, and this is followed by a flexible external arm and a lightly ribbed internal arm. At 27cm / 10.6″ in length, and with a maximum diameter of 3.66cm / 1.44″ (which is just under the head), the Mose is then quite large for a dual-stimulator, making it seem all the more impressive. Available in black, purple and turquoise (which is what I have), the silicone, which is buttery soft yet lint attracting, is then super squishy at the tip of both heads and reminds me a lot of the Hot Octopuss KURVE, although the rest of the toy is firm. Plus, since this toy uses stretch thrusting, you can feel a lot of the mechanics under the thin layer of silicone at the internal shaft’s middle. At the Mose’s back, you’ll then find the magnetic plates for the charger, as well as the ZALO logo. Finally, this toy is water-resistant, body-safe and USB rechargeable, and whilst it is anal safe it is not intended for this use.

Packaging

ZALO Mose packaging

My order for the ZALO Mose was placed with JOUJOU on the 18th of September and it arrived promptly on the 20th. The package was then 100% discreet, with no mention of the sender or what was inside. Plus, since JOUJOU includes free gifts on all orders over $100 AUD, they included a bottle of SENSUVA Toy Cleaner in mine, which I really love for cleaning external toys such as wand massagers and suction products. As for the Mose itself, I had high expectations considering ZALO’s reputation for some of the best packaging in the industry. I was not let down, with the brand’s stunning use of ancient Egyptian aesthetics once again in full swing. Very similar to my other products in their Legend series, but different enough to allow the Mose to feel unique, its large black box features gold hieroglyphics-style art on two sides, whilst on the front is a clear window from which you can view the toy within. Then, on the final side, you can find all the information you need about the product’s various features. Inside, the Mose rests safely in foam, whilst its accessories are in a smaller box. These are the same as with past ZALO toys, and include the charging cord (which features the brand logo to make identifying it easy), instructions, luxury storage bag, and warranty card. As usual, this lasts for one year, and after that you’re eligible for their 10 year commitment.

Charging

ZALO Mose charging

Since the ZALO Mose is USB rechargeable, charging it is easy. One end of the charger fits into a USB port, whilst the other end magnetically connects to the metal prongs on the back of the toy. This generally works fine, but make sure to leave the toy somewhere it won’t get moved or knocked, as the magnets can disconnect on their own. Once on charge, a LED light next to the toy’s buttons should flash to indicate charging, and this light will then become solid when charging is complete. Additionally, you can also view a small battery icon on the display screen to see how far along it is, and this can also be viewed at any time when the toy is on to check the Mose’s battery levels. Charging should then take 2 hours, and this will give you around 2 hours of playtime.

Controls

Despite having four separate functions (internal vibrations, external vibrations, thrusting and heating), the ZALO Mose has just two buttons. This was something I also remarked on in my recent review of the YoYoLemon Rabbit, and whilst I wanted more, overall I thought that toy handled it quite successfully, dedicating one button to the thrusting and the other to the vibrations (heating would then turn on automatically). Unfortunately, I don’t think the Mose has managed to do the same, which is quite a disappointment considering there is a big price difference between the two. This is as one button is simply dedicated to the heating function and reducing whatever level the main button has set the toy to, leaving the other button to handle all three of the toy’s core functions simultaneously, significantly reducing the Mose’s versatility that should have been one of its biggest selling points. But alas, my dear reader, that is not the worst part. Rather than having the levels of the three functions gradually increase and then move onto patterns, as is the norm with sex toys, they instead jump around. Mode one is both vibration motors, mode two is thrusting and clitoral vibrations, mode three is G-Spot vibrations, clitoral vibrations, and thrusting patterns, and so forth. It just seems totally random and makes using the toy far more complicated than it needs to be. It’s as if I must memorise the modes so I know what’s coming and what I can set the toy to when I’m using it, rather than using it naturally, and sure enough I know that modes 4, 7 and 8 are my best bets for a good experience, as they are the only modes where all three functions are running at steady speeds.

ZALO Mose controls

As for how to actually use the ZALO Mose, you can start by clicking the button closest to the display screen, which will place the toy in stand-by mode. This’ll activate the screen, which shows you what mode you are on and the battery level. Three icons are also displayed here, C for clitoral, T for thrusting, and G for G-Spot, and these show you what function is running at any given time, what intensity it is set to, and whether it is on a steady speed or a pattern. You can then continue clicking this button to increase the toy across its 8 modes, or use the other button to lower them again. Finally, when you’re done you can just hold the power button down.

Heating

You can activate the heating function on the ZALO Mose when it is in stand-by mode by simply holding down the button furthest away from the display screen. This will place an orange line on the screen, which will remain present whilst the Mose is heating up. Designed to reach a maximum temperature of 107° F / 42° C, all this heat is then located at the squishy head of the internal shaft. Now, I’ve tested a few heated toys lately, and they’ve all been pretty bad, so I was feeling a bit over the function entirely. But the Mose is exactly what a self-heating toy should be, and it’s reignited my love for it. It’s quick, feels super warm (without being uncomfortably hot), and the location means it really makes an impact, making insertion on cold days so much easier.

First Impressions

Truly, my first impression when turning on the ZALO Mose was a massive “what the fuck???” when I realised how it was controlled. But since I’ve already spoken about that, let’s move onto its vibrations and thrusting. The motors of both the internal and external shafts are very similar, and both offer strong and rumbly vibrations, which is fantastic. As for the thrusting, I had some high hopes since this is actually the second ZALO thruster I have tried. The Desire was the first, and its magnetic-style is still one of my favourites. However, the Mose instead uses the typically inferior stretch-style, which was a little concerning. Activating it, the G-Spot arm contracts and expands by 1.5cm / 0.59″, with the stretchy silicone here accommodating the change, and this range of movement is a little underwhelming compared to some of the thrusters I’ve tried lately. Plus, with enough force, the movement does slow down and eventually stop. As for the noise level, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect beforehand, as both ZALO and JOUJOU’s websites list the Mose as having “silent operation”. But sure enough, this toy is very much not silent, with all three functions being relatively loud on their own, making them a bit of a nightmare altogether. I’d say compared to other thruster toys it is at least not the loudest I’ve heard, but it is definitely louder than most vibrators, and not something you can use if discretion is at all important to you.

My Experience

ZALO Mose LED screen

Since the ZALO Mose is a little on the large side for a vibrator, I might have had trouble inserting it, but thankfully with such a tapered squishy tip, it doesn’t take too much effort to start use. Once inside, I do find that its curved head is able to stimulate my G-Spot a little, but only if I really put in the effort. And as for the texture, this is too subtle to really feel, so I just think of it as more of a decorative element. On the other hand, when it comes to the external arm, I found it rests perfectly over my clitoris, and for increased stimulated you can also move its pointed tip to be directly over you. Activating the vibrations and thrusting, however, is when things get really good. All three functions work superbly well, with the vibrations feeling powerful and satisfying, and the thrusting being quick and consistent. In fact, regardless of how much force I put on the Mose within my vagina, it doesn’t slow down, breaking the usual stretch-thruster curse. I do need to hold onto the end of it, to ensure it has enough pressure and so it doesn’t fall out, but that’s the only thing that is required of me to have some pretty fantastic orgasms. Really the only real downside to using this toy is just how annoying it is to control, as whilst I perhaps wouldn’t have used the three functions individually, I sure would have loved to have been able to slowly ramp the speed up. Plus, whilst I was so excited for that LED display screen, unfortunately I can’t see it at all during use!

Cleaning & Care

Another con to the ZALO Mose is that it is not waterproof. Instead, it is only IPX4, the lowest rating I’ve seen on a sex toy in quite some time, and one that makes me hesitant to even call this toy water-resistant. What this means is that it is protected from being splashed, however it is vulnerable to any flowing water or submersion, which makes cleaning difficult and also rules out showering with the product. With this in mind, I’d recommend just lathering it up with some soap immediately after use, and then carefully rinsing it, making sure to only get the silicone shafts wet, not the handle or display screen. After this you can air dry it and then store it in the bag it came with, as it will attract lint. Additionally, make sure to only use water-based lubricant with this product.

Final Thoughts

ZALO Mose with storage bag

It’s been a few years now since I’ve reviewed for ZALO, so when JOUJOU reached out to me about the Mose I was so excited. And for a brand that is prone to overcomplicating their toys, this thruster dual-stimulator is surprisingly paired back, and for that I can easily say that this is one of the best toys I have tried from them. The problem, then, is that in the last few months, I have reviewed two practically identical toys, and both the YoYoLemon Rabbit and Sohimi NORMA are less than half the price of the Mose. Now, I do think that this toy is better than both of them. The vibrations in the two arms, as well as the thrusting, is superior, providing greater pleasure. And the heating functions can barely even be compared, with the Mose’s being absolutely perfect. But is all this double-the-price better? After all, the Mose’s controls are some of the worst I’ve ever seen, it has the lowest waterproof rating of the three of them, it’s the loudest, and you can’t even see its display screen during use! Yet, of course, the Mose’s premium nature also has its advantages. Both it and the box it came in are beautiful, it’s easily available from retailers around the world, and it comes with a pretty fantastic warranty, which you never know when you might need. With all this in mind, which one you choose is up to you. But my recommendation would be to get the ZALO Mose if you can afford it, and if you think the issues I’ve outlined here wouldn’t bother you too much, but otherwise the YoYoLemon Rabbit (my preference over the NORMA) makes a pretty good budget alternative.

You can get the ZALO Mose from JOUJOU for just $239.99 AUD / $155 USD!
