Hot Octopuss KURVE

If I had to choose just one company that I get most excited for new releases from, it think I would have to be Hot Octopuss. Unlike most other brands who are pumping out new toy ranges all the time, this award-winning UK team only announces a few select products a year, and you can always tell that each piece has been carefully designed to not only provide immense pleasure, but also to stand out and bring something new to the table, whether it’s just to their brand or the industry as a whole. Starting out in the world of penis and couples toys, their masturbators are the only solo sex toys my partner uses, and they make up some of our favourite dual devices too. As for me, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying watching Hot Octopuss slowly expand to produce a small range of clitoral toys over the past few years, starting with the now discontinued Queen Bee, and more recently with the DiGiT and AMO, which is one of my all-time favourite bullets, placing in my Top 10 Sex Toys of 2020. But the G-Spot is one area I’ve still been eagerly awaiting to see them tackle, and now with the release of the KURVE it seems it is finally happening!

Product Description

The Hot Octopuss KURVE may look like a simple G-Spot vibrator at first glance, but if there’s anything I’ve learnt reviewing for this brand over the last few years, it is that their products are anything but. Advertised as “the world’s first customisable G-spot vibrator”, the KURVE uses Hot Octopuss’s new Treble & Bass Technology to bring a whole new kind of pleasure to the user. So… what does this actually mean? Well, if you’ve ever read one of my reviews before you’ve likely heard me refer to a toy’s vibrations as either buzzy or rumbly. What you get depends on the quality of a toy’s motor, with rumbly vibrations typically being considered the better of the two (and my personal favourite). However both types have fans and so it really all comes down to your preference, with rumbly vibes often being considered to penetrate deeper than just the surface of your skin, and buzzy vibes generally being able to reach higher levels. So to mix things up Hot Octopuss have added two motors to the KURVE, with one specialising in each type. Dubbed Treble & Bass, likely because it sounds a hell of a lot cooler than Buzzy & Rumbly, this allows for users to choose their preference, or even combine the two to find that perfect frequency, which in my opinion is an absolutely fantastic idea and certainly the first time I’ve heard of something like it.

Hot Octopuss KURVE Head

As with all Hot Octopuss products, not only is the KURVE innovative but it looks good doing it too. Despite only coming in purple, which is my least favourite colour for a sex toy, they have at least used a beautiful shade of plum which I am absolutely here for and is unlike anything else in my toy box Silky smooth silicone is then used for the length of its curved and completely firm shaft, that is until you reach the head and find a gorgeously squishy gel-pad hidden under the body-safe material. Giving off the sensation of a stress ball or a mouse pad armrest, I am low-key obsessed with how this feels, being a unique feature that I haven’t seen in a toy before and reminding me of my beloved dual-density dildos. The toy’s handle is then made of a shiny ABS plastic that matches the colour of the silicone before fading into a darker shade at the bottom, and it is here that you’ll find the company’s crown log and six massive buttons for ultimate accessibility. The words Treble & Bass are then also printed here, as are the letters T and B to ensure you know which button controls which motor, and on the back of this you’ll find the toy’s USB charging hole and LED light. The only immediate downside to this toy is the large Hot Octopuss logo in the shaft’s silicone, as while I love how this looks, it is going to make cleaning far more difficult as it is located in an area that will be inserted into you. Finally, this toy is fully waterproof, however it is not anal safe or harness compatible.

Packaging

Hot Octopuss KURVE Packaging

My order with Hot Octopuss for the KURVE was placed on the 3rd of February and I received it on the 9th, which was brilliant considering it was coming all the way from the UK. As usual it was also fully discreet, with no mention of the sender or contents, and for a look at my full unboxing you can check this out. The packaging for the KURVE itself was then what I’ve come to expect from the Hot Octopuss brand, since they’ve been consistent with their boxes for every product I’ve tried from them so far. A simple cardboard box featuring images of the toy and a few details on it, the company forgoes the usual elaborate packaging of luxury brands to let their products speak for themselves. Opening this up you’ll then find the toy, alongside its charging cord, instruction manual, warranty guide, and branded drawstring bag, all safely secured in a card cut-out. Overall while I do think Hot Octopuss’s packaging may not be as gift-worthy as some of the other luxury brands I’ve tried recently, I do appreciate that it is low-waste.

Charging

Hot Octopuss KURVE Charging

As the Hot Octopuss KURVE is USB rechargeable, charging it is very simple. Just plug the USB end into a USB port, and then place the other end into the charging port, which is a small hole on the toy’s back (you may need to press quite firm the first time to break the seal). When charging the light on the toy will be red, and this will become green once it is fully charged. The toy should then take 2 hours to charge, which will give you around 2 hours of playtime.

Controls

Despite the Hot Octopuss KURVE having six buttons, which is quite a lot for a sex toy, it’s quite easy to use and pick up, with the obvious plus and minus symbols combined with the letter indicators being big contributor to this. As you can probably guess, the right-hand side plus and minus buttons control the intensity of the Treble, whilst those on the left-hand side control the Bass. To turn on either you can hold down the associated plus button for two seconds, which will place you on its lowest steady speed, and you can then continue clicking the plus to increase the speed or press the minus to decrease it again, with both motors featuring five vibration levels. Motors can then be run either individually or together, and can operate at different levels of intensity from each other. Finally, to turn either motor off you can hold down the associated minus button. As for the smaller circle buttons these aren’t as immediately obvious and I did need to check the instructions to work out what they do, but basically you can press the right-hand side convex button to turn both motors off at once (considering I just reviewed two toys that featured multiple motors but frustratingly had no way to turn them off together, this is a huge plus), or press the left-hand side concave button to activate the patterns for both motors, with there being four options for you to choose from. Overall I don’t have a single complaint about all of this, and feel like Hot Octopuss have presented quite a comprehensive level of control while making it feel simple.

First Impressions

Hot Octopuss are known for their incredibly rumbly and powerful vibrators, but I still had no idea what to expect with this toy considering the whole Treble & Bass technology that the KURVE had been designed around. Turning on each motor though I am thoroughly impressed with both, and even though the Treble isn’t as rumbly as the bass, it is definitely still far stronger than most buzzy-style vibrators. Separately these are motors that I would be in awe of in any sex toy, so the fact that they are then presented together in this way is kind of blowing my mind. As for the noise level, it is fairly loud, especially when both are turned on together, but it’s not as bad as I thought it would be and this is then again reduced when actually inserted during use. As such I would caution using it if you need to be discreet, but I do think if you had a pretty soundproof room that you’d be alright.

My Experience

Despite the KURVE being somewhat large for a vibrator, I do find inserting it is relatively easy due to the gel head and smooth silicone, although if I do want to make things even easier then using the Funkit Toys NoFrillDo R first can be a good way to warm up. Once inside I then find it sits perfectly over my G-Spot, and so it only takes a small amount of movement to begin to stimulate it, which feels amazing. In fact, it feels so good that I could easily use this toy without even turning the vibrations on! But when I do? Well, it takes the Hot Octopuss KURVE to a completely different level from anything I’ve ever tried before. I’ve been vocal here many times about the fact that I don’t care too much about the quality of internal vibrations. But after trying the KURVE’s… well I may have to rethink that. On their own both motors already provide some of the most pleasurable G-Spot stimulation of my life, with the Bass being my favourite of the two. But when I use them together… well I think my soul might have left my body! Even compared to some of my other favourite G-Spot vibrators, such as the L’amourose Prism V, We-Vibe Nova 2, and LELO Mona 2 (which I recently reviewed for PleasureBase), the KURVE’s vibrations are a class above, and are easily the best I have ever felt. Due to this I can really just leave the KURVE pressed against my G-Spot without even bothering to move it in order to achieve brilliant levels of stimulation. Although, of course, thrusting is still my preference, and this combined with a good clitoral vibrator, such as the Dame Kip, gives me some breathtaking orgasms. Plus, with a much thicker shaft than other toys, this fuller feeling also contributes to enhancing pleasure, and as for the gel-head this helps cushion the force of the toy on my G-Spot, which makes going to town on it a lot easier, while also allowing the KURVE to be suitable for use on the clitoris.

Cleaning & Care

Hot Octopuss KURVE Storage Bag

While cleaning the Hot Octopuss KURVE is easy as it is waterproof, there are so many areas where bacteria can hide that you do need to be quite thorough with it. To start just wipe it down with some warm soapy water, and then you can begin going over any textured elements that have also gotten messy with a spare soapy toothbrush. For me the Hot Octopuss logo on the shaft and seam between the silicone and plastic are guaranteed areas to need some extra care, but on messier sessions I’ve also found myself cleaning around the buttons and even the charging hole! After this you can then rinse the toy off, and leave it to air dry. Next you’ll want to store it either in the bag it came with or a ziplock bag to keep it clean. Finally, don’t use silicone-based lubricant with this product, as it may react badly to the silicone it is made of.

Final Thoughts

For a long time now the L’amourose Prism V has been my favourite G-Spot vibrator. Which is a bit awkward when I tell people… considering the brand went out of business years ago. Still, I’m here to provide honest reviews, and so even though it’d be far easier to just lie and recommend a product I could actually make a commission on, that’s just not me. Of course, I have been dearly hoping something would come along to take its place, and so it might have taken four years but here we are! The Hot Octopuss KURVE is not only brilliant in regards to its superb appearance and functionality, but the combination of the two motors as well, which are already super powerful in their own right, is just a complete game changer. In fact, now I’m not sure I’m ever going to be content with just one motor again?! This is without a doubt the strongest internal vibrator I’ve ever tried, and even without the two motors, the excellent curve, thick shaft, and gel head all make for an excellent product on their own. Truly the only downside to this toy is that it’s a little annoying to clean, but for the pleasure it gives you won’t be hearing any complaints from me!
