Bullet vibrators are, in my opinion, the most important sex toy there is. And, if I could, I would gift one to everyone. Why? Well, as much as I love using wand massagers and clit suckers, they aren’t essential. But during PIV sex, I honestly don’t know where I would be without a trusty bullet. Not to mention that bullets can be enjoyed anywhere by anyone (just not anally!), and are also often necessary additions for so many other toys, from butt plugs and G-Spot vibrators, to grinders and harnesses. Because of all this, I tend to go through bullets more frequently than other types of sex toys, and I always have at least three in rotation next to my bed in case batteries are running low the moment the mood strikes. Yet, somehow, it has now been over two years since my last bullet review, and so I was thrilled when Peepshow Toys offered to send me the new BMS Swan Maximum Bullet for review.
The Brand
Before we jump in, I want to first take a moment to introduce the brand, who I cannot believe I haven’t reviewed for before! Canadian owned and operated, BMS Factory CEO and founder Steve Bannister first entered the industry in 1983, and since then BMS has become one of the industry’s biggest manufacturers of adult goods. If you don’t recognise the name, that’s because their toys are typically sold under one of their many product lines, including Leaf, Palmpower, Pillow Talk, and, of course, Swan. How I’ve managed to avoid reviewing for them in the almost ten years I’ve been doing this I don’t know and is entirely by chance, although I often think that I have considering one of the very first toys I ever reviewed was inspired by their classic Swan Wand design. Speaking of Swan, I will say I am surprised that this is the product line the Maximum Bullet falls under, considering previous releases all have a very distinct look, with bright pink silicone and organic-looking shapes. But, since I think it’s been awhile since Swan has had a new release, I am more than excited by this new direction.
Product Description
At first glance, the BMS Swan Maximum Bullet is very much the classic bullet. But there are very subtle choices that differentiate it from similar toys on the market. Firstly, it is a little bigger than usual, both lengthwise and widthwise, although not so much that I would think this’ll struggle to work with bullet compatible products. Plus, whilst it has that classic lipstick-style flat face at its tip, this is quite rounded rather than having a hard edge like on the We-Vibe Tango X. Speaking of the Tango, whilst both toys are made of ABS plastic, the Maximum Bullet feels very different, with the shiny surface being silky smooth with almost zero grip, as opposed to the Tango and many other bullets that have more of that normal plastic feel. The Swan logo can then be found at the base of the toy, and just after this is a strip of rose gold plastic, which also features some textural decals to help you identify this area by touch. Finally, at the very end you’ll find the magnetic plates for the charging cord to connect to and not one, but two buttons in which to control the Maximum Bullet. Available in two colours, pink and blue, I am then absolutely obsessed with how bright and unusual for a sex toy the blue is, and this vibe is also fully waterproof, USB rechargeable, and body-safe.
The one exception to the BMS Swan Maximum Bullet looking like a standard bullet is its aptly named Comfy Cuff. Another invention of BMS that comes with the Maximum Bullet (and looks like it may also be available for individual purchase at select brick-and-mortar stores), this ring is simple yet ingenious. Thick, squishy, and made of silky smooth body-safe silicone, the idea here is to provide a protective barrier for your fingers to avoid them being tired out from the toy’s residual vibrations. Plus, it also aids grip and can be used as a buffer on your clit if you are just starting out with sex toys or get overstimulated easily. Not to mention that it stops the Maximum Bullet from rolling away like other bullets do when they’re placed on an uneven surface! It comes in the same colours as the toy (as well as black if you manage to track it down individually), and being stretchy means that whilst it may come with the Maximum Bullet, it can also be used on other bullet vibrators, which is a pretty great deal. I, for one, have been enjoying it on the Doxy Bullet, although I have found that it doesn’t work too well with the We-Vibe Tango X due to that toy having its controls on its shaft.
Packaging
My order for the BMS Swan Maximum Bullet was placed with Peepshow Toys on the 1st of June and I received it on the 11th. The package was then 100% discreet, with no mention of the sender or the contents. As for the packaging of the toy itself, I wasn’t really sure what to expect since this is my first BMS product, but as they are such a large manufacturer I didn’t have high expectations compared to a lot of the smaller brands I work with. So I was pleasantly surprised when I was presented with such a high-quality and attractive little box. Featuring a picture of the Maximum Bullet on the front and plenty of information on what it can do, this blue box (the pink bullet comes in a pink box) is well designed and opens from the side magnetically, revealing the toy and the words “Let my power consume you”. Also included are two branded storage pouches, one being a plastic zip-lock style and the other being a fabric drawstring pouch, a charging cord, an instruction manual (which also includes information on Swan’s one year warranty), a thank you card with a small message from the founder, and a small note on charging times, so you can get straight into it. Overall I’m completely blown away by all of this, which goes above and beyond what I am used to receiving with sex toys, especially from non-luxury products like this.
Charging
Charging the BMS Swan Maximum Bullet is easy since it is USB rechargeable. Simply plug one end into a USB port, and then the other end can be connected magnetically to the metal plates on the bottom of the toy. The magnetic connection is then fairly average, not being the strongest I’ve seen nor the weakest, although one thing BMS have done to avoid any potential disconnection issues is provide an extra long cord. At roughly 155cm / 5′ in length, this is well over double the length I’d expect a cord for a toy like this to be, and I was super surprised by it. Plus, another element that impressed me with the cord is that not only does the BMS logo feature on the USB end, to make it easy to identify, but the Swan logo is also included on a small tag. Charging then takes 2.5 hours to provide an estimated 2 hours of use (according to the instructions, Peepshow Toys list it as four hours!), with the Maximum Bullet’s light turning on during charge and then turning off to indicate completion. Additionally, BMS recommends fully charging the Maximum Bullet before first use, and charging it at least every three months to prolong the battery life.
Controls
The BMS Swan Maximum Bullet has two arrow-shaped buttons at its base, which is unusual for a bullet vibrator as they typically feature just one here, whilst fancier versions, like the We-Vibe Tango X and Hot Octopuss AMO, will sometimes feature two or more on the side. So my immediate impression was one of concern, since it might be hard to accurately press and differentiate the buttons in such a small area. However, with one button being much larger, both in width and height, my fears were quickly set to rest, as it is easy to tell the difference between the two, even without looking at them. Not to mention that they are both easy to press, responding with a satisfying click, which is more than I can say for most toys. To turn the Maximum Bullet on, you simply need to press either button, with the toy responding by turning on its light and placing its vibrations at their lowest intensity. You can then hold down the large arrow to increase the speed, whilst holding down the smaller button will lower it again. These vibrations gradually increase rather than having defined “levels”, but if I had to say a number then I would say the Maximum Bullet has around 10 levels, with it taking 7 seconds to reach its maximum intensity. It’s also worth noting that the toy’s light will flash when the speed is increasing and then remain solid once the top level is hit, which is really helpful to know as I often struggle to tell when my Tango X (which uses a similar incremental system) has reached its max. And, as you may have noticed, no patterns are included on the Maximum Bullet, which is a positive for me but may be a dealbreaker for some. Then, to turn off the toy you can either press the smaller arrow or press both arrows together, with the vibrations turning off instantly. I like this system as too often there are delays with toys turning off, and once the toy is at its maximum speed it’s almost impossible to press just the small arrow, so having an alternative method in being able to press both instead is very smart. Finally, the BMS Swan Maximum Bullet also has a travel lock. This may be activated and deactivated by holding down both buttons for four seconds or until you feel the toy vibrate quickly twice, and it will also unlock once it has been fully charged.
First Impressions
I’ve heard great things about the vibrations in other BMS Factory toys, particularly the Pillow Talk Sassy and PalmPower Extreme. So whilst my expectations were higher than they’d usually be for a new brand, my lofty standards combined with the Maximum Bullet’s low price worried me. But, as I’ve already mentioned, I was immediately impressed upon receiving the toy due to its packaging and small touches like the long charging cord, and that is something that continued as I turned it on for the first time. Extremely high-powered, this is without a doubt the most powerful bullet vibrator I have ever tried. My current two favourites, the We-Vibe Tango X and Doxy Bullet, it leaves in the dust, and I quickly realised that the Comfy Cuff wasn’t included because BMS were being nice, but because it is necessary. And whilst things do get buzzier as the speed increases, as is normal with vibrations, overall the Maximum Bullet retains its rumbly-nature fairly well. Plus, somehow the noise level is also on the lower end, being slightly louder than the Tango X and quieter than the Doxy Bullet, and between this and the fact that it can be turned off instantly, this toy may be a promising option for those who need some extra privacy.
My Experience
I always use sex toys a minimum of three times when I test them, and due to the sheer number of toys I go through every month, typically toys don’t get used more than that. If I really like something, then I’ll place it into my bedside drawer rather than into storage at the end of the review, and then it’s just down to whether I actually grab it when the mood strikes. But the BMS Swan Maximum Bullet has already been used far more than three times. In fact, you might have noticed that I got this toy all the way back in June, which was six months ago. Well, the truth is that I’ve been using it since then, with the Maximum Bullet being my behind-the-scenes companion for all of my reviews during that period that were in need of some clitoral stimulation. Because if it wasn’t clear enough from all the praise I have showered on it so far: the BMS Swan Maximum Bullet is my new favourite bullet vibrator. The powerful yet rumbly vibrations literally bring a tear to my eye, and feel more like a wand massager than a bullet vibrator to me. Plus, whilst a big part of my love for the Doxy Bullet (my previous favourite) was to do with its return to simplicity, everything about the Maximum Bullet has been so well thought-out that I don’t mind the changes they have made to the classic bullet design. Compared to the Doxy, the vibrations are stronger and have a far greater range, the small shape is more familiar and ensures it’ll fit with bullet compatible toys, and the lower noise level actually allows for discreet use. Although I will note that even though the Comfy Cuff helps hugely with the toy’s residual vibrations, they are still more prominent than holding the Doxy Bullet from its base when both toys are at their highest speeds. Another thing is that, like any plastic or metal bullet, the Maximum Bullet doesn’t play too nicely with hard penetrables, such as the metal Njoy Pure Wand, and so for that and times when I want a gentler touch, I’ll probably still go with my beloved We-Vibe Touch X instead.
Cleaning & Care
Since the BMS Swan Maximum Bullet is fully waterproof, cleaning it is easy. Just wipe it down with some warm, soapy water, and then rinse. After this you can leave it to dry, and then return it to either of its storage bags. Being plastic, you can also use any lubricant you want with it, although be careful to not get silicone-based types on the silicone Comfy Cuff.
Final Thoughts
When I announced that the Doxy Bullet was the most powerful bullet vibe I’d tried back in 2022, it made sense. Not only is that toy made by the same people who make the amazing Doxy Massager range, but it is also big! And even my very limited understanding of vibrator engineering knows that a bigger motor equals stronger vibrations. So when I agreed to review the mid-range BMS Swan Maximum Bullet, which is only slightly bigger than the average bullet, I obviously didn’t expect much. Yet now I’m saying that this toy is more powerful than the Doxy Bullet?!?! I don’t know what kind of magic this is, but I am here for it. That being said, my love for this toy is to do with so much more than just vibrations. From the high-quality packaging and the accessories, to the Comfy Cuff and the easy-to-use controls, every aspect of this toy has clearly been considered and tested, and I could not be more impressed. Really the only potential issue here is that the Maximum Bullet does not come with patterns, and whilst this is a positive for me, I can understand that this is an important feature some people enjoy that is missing. Overall though, I cannot recommend this toy more, especially to those who previously passed on the Doxy Bullet due to its noise level.
