Dame Kip

On August 9th 2019 at approximately 6:58pm my We-Vibe Tango was pronounced dead after finally losing its long battle with battery failure. It was a truly sad day, as even though I knew the end was near I still wasn’t quite ready for it, because I had yet to find a successor. The Nu Sensuelle Point was the obvious choice, and as my second favourite bullet vibrator it was more than worthy of taking over the Tango’s work. But it had health issues of its own to contend with, this time in the form of the buttons struggling to respond. So, instead, I put my hope in a new toy, the Hot Octopuss DiGiT, but despite strong vibrations I couldn’t help but feel its use was limited due to the restrictive finger band. As such it’s been a pretty dark time for me since then, but I got through it knowing that one day I would find a worthy replacement. So, when I heard whispers about an amazing new clit vibe I thought perhaps my time had finally come. At least I did until I heard who was making it… Dame Products.

If you had told me last year I would willingly request a Dame toy for review I would have laughed. Out of the three products that they had, before now releasing the Dame Kip, I had tried two of them, and they were some of the worst vibrators I’ve ever tested. You can check out my review of the Dame Fin here, and while I have the Eva (albeit the original, not the supposedly improved Eva II) I still haven’t bothered to review it, but spoilers: it’s terrible. It’s a shame too, because I want to love Dame. Their branding and design work is some of the best in the industry, and this is due to the fact that they skipped the usual cliches associated with being a sex toy manufacturer, and instead just branded themselves the way any other modern tech company would. It’s certainly inspiring and clearly I’m not the only one who thinks so, as more and more companies with similar styles have popped up since, and they have certainly contributed to reducing the stigma associated with toys and helped with bringing them more into the mainstream. But even my admiration wasn’t enough to make me go anywhere near the Pom, the flexible vibrator they released last year, and I thought much the same thing when they released the Kip this year, despite how much I enjoyed its lemon colour. After I started to read the fantastic reviews on it however, and perhaps also due to my desperation after my We-Vibe Tango died, I decided maybe it was time to give Dame another shot, and thanks to SheVibe here we are.

Dame Kip

The Dame Kip is essentially just a bullet-style clitoral vibrator, but its design has been elevated by adding a flat end rather than being tapered to a point. Slightly convex, this unique surface can then be placed over the clitoris to cup it for broad stimulation, or alternatively the edges around it can be used for pin-point stimulation. This is most true for the very tip of the toy, as when turned on this functions similar to the type of stimulation toys like the ZALO HERO and Svakom Siren offer, where the flexible silicone responds to the vibrations by flicking back and forth quickly. The rest of the body can then be used as you would with any other bullet vibrator, and two indents in the silicone indicate the toy’s buttons, for which there are three of. At the very end there is then the magnetic charging point for the toy, as it is both USB rechargeable and fully waterproof. While intrigued by the sleek shape, the thing that most appealed to me about the Kip was one of the two colours its fully-silicone body comes in, which is a pure Lemon yellow and like nothing I’ve ever seen on a sex toy before. The other is then a pale Lavender colour, and while this is also very nice I think I could make a colour wheel of purple sex toys at this point. Additionally, the Kip feels good to hold and is quite lightweight, and while the buttery silicone is completely firm around the body of the toy, it is soft and squishy around the edges of the head.

Dame Kip Packaging

My order with SheVibe for the Dame Kip was placed on the 17th of October and I received it on the 30th. Usually the packages I receive from SheVibe are 100% discreet, however this one unfortunately listed them as the sender. Even though it has been a few years since I’ve had a new Dame product I was happy to see that the brand hasn’t really changed much about their beautiful packaging. Small, minimalist and modern, the Kip’s promotional outer sleeve combines Dame’s signature blue and Kip’s lemon to make up the palette of this box, and the addition of line art to represent the toy and how it functions alongside the sans-serif typeface immediately work to set this product apart from other sex toys. This can then be removed to reveal a sturdy box which uses that same bright yellow and is blank aside from the toy and brand name, however even these are printed with a clear gloss (meaning that they only show up in certain lights) and thus allowing the box to remain discreet. Opening this then presents you with the toy, as well as its included accessories, which are a Dame sticker, well-made storage bag, instruction manual (which is probably one of the best I’ve ever seen) and charging cord (which is a lot nicer than the ones I usually receive as it has an outer fabric layer). Additionally, Dame offer a three year warranty for their products, but this is only available to those in the US.

Charging the Dame Kip is easy as it is USB rechargeable. To do so, first connect the magnetic end of the cord to the end of the Kip, and then connect the other end to a USB port. Magnetic connectors can sometimes be finicky when it comes to sex toys, but thankfully the Kip’s is quite powerful and you shouldn’t have any issues with it coming loose. When charging the toy’s light will flash, and once fully charged the light will remain solid. It unfortunately doesn’t say in the instructions or online how long charging is supposed to take, but once finished you should get about 1.5 hours of play time with it. Additionally, when the battery on the Kip is low the light will blink red when the button is pressed.

Dame Kip Charging

There are three buttons on the Kip to control it with and the location of these is indicated by the two recesses in the silicone, however aside from this there is no other way to spot the buttons, so at first glance it may seem that there is only two. Basically, the smaller recess is where the power button sits, while the longer one is where the plus and minus buttons are, with the minus button being the closest to the power button. Once you know where the buttons are and what they do, controlling the toy is then very easy. To turn it on you first hold down the power button, which will put you on the lowest steady speed. You can then again press the power button, and this will let you cycle through the Kip’s 5 pattern modes, or you can press the plus and minus buttons to increase or decrease the mode’s intensity, for which there are 5 levels of. Alternatively, you can hold the plus or minus buttons down to quickly increase or decrease the intensities. I love everything about this, it all functions smoothly and simply, and offers more flexibility and options than similar vibrators such as the We-Vibe Tango and Nu Sensuelle Point. In addition to all this the Kip also comes with a travel-lock, and this can be activated by holding the power button down for 10 seconds, which will be indicated by the light blinking and then flashing red, and deactivated by putting it on charge.

The problems I had with the Dame Eva and Fin had everything to do with their vibrations which were incredibly weak and buzzy. So turning the Kip on for the first time was a really important moment for me, because it would tell me if I had just found my potential Tango successor… or if I had just signed myself up for a month of testing yet another crappy toy from Dame. Thankfully it seems the risk paid off, as it was immediately obvious as soon as I turned the Kip on that things were going to be good. The vibrations are super strong and super rumbly, and I couldn’t be happier with them. Plus, they’re more than just a step up from other Dame products, as the Kip is even on another level from most other clitoral vibrators. Compared to the Nu Sensuelle Point it can also hold up its own, and I think the Kip may even be more rumbly, however while I do think the Point is stronger this may be more attributed to the hard ABS plastic it is made with, as even if the two had identical motors this is always going to feel more intense than the Kip’s soft silicone. Then in terms of noise level, which was another big issue I had with the Fin, I also found that the Kip has made a vast improvement, and as such I think you’d be safe to use this behind closed doors without anyone hearing.

Dame Kip Storage Bag

After turning on the vibrations for the first time I was pretty eager to try the Dame Kip out properly and see if it could really be as good as I thought… and if anything it was better! The vibrations are a dream, being both powerful and rumbly at the same time, and sometimes it even tricks my brain into thinking I’m using a wand massager instead of a clit vibe. But the thing that really stands out the most for me is how versatile it is due to its unique shape. I’m so use to classic bullets like the Point and Tango that the possibilities with this toy are almost overwhelming and I have to remind myself to use them. My default is to just hold its body against my clit as that is what I’m used to, although even this is a little different as rather than being round the Kip has the three corners which I really enjoy grinding on. Then when I want to switch things up I can either cup the head around my clit for broad stimulation similar to what I would get with a wand, or I can use just the tip to get intense pin-point stimulation similar to using the ZALO HERO. Using it solo, either just by itself or with other toys, is perfect, as is using it with my partner during PIV sex, and it goes without saying this toy has given me many brilliant orgasms.

Cleaning the Dame Kip is easy as it is waterproof. Just wipe it down with some warm soapy water, rinse, dry, and then store it in the bag it came with. Make sure to not use silicone-based lubricant with this product, as it may react badly to the silicone it is made of, but if you do then first perform a spot test.

Dame Kip

Since the death of my We-Vibe Tango my already sickly Nu Sensuelle Point has been struggling to pick up the slack, and we needed a saviour. We thought it might be the Hot Octopuss DiGiT, but even though everything about it should have been right, it just wasn’t. But here we are, having finally found a toy worthy of taking over the top spot, and now the Point can finally rest. I’m so glad I didn’t let my feelings towards Dame’s previous products stop me from requesting the Kip, because this is literally a perfect toy, which are words I don’t get to say a lot. Usually toys have at least one issue, but not this one. From the packaging to the price, to the controls and the design, everything about this toy is flawless. Dame have always had some of the best designs and marketing in the industry, it was just the toy’s motors they couldn’t seem to get right, but now that they have I think they’re going to be unstoppable, and you can definitely count me in to trying their future toys!
