This may be an unpopular opinion, but I often feel like clitoral vibrators are the most boring of all the sex toys. Don’t get me wrong, I love them, and if I was forced to give up every sex toy type but one, I’d probably keep them over everything else. But, whereas G-Spot vibrators, wand massagers, and dildos come in all shapes and sizes, clitoral vibrators are generally all the same. Even when they look special and different, like my recent review of the Blush Novelties The Collection Sweet Bunny, they are still essentially the same underneath it all. I’ve also found them to be the most temperamental of all sex toys, as my two favourite clit vibes, the We-Vibe Tango and Nu Sensuelle Point, are both faulty and barely work most of the time. I am in desperate need for a new good quality vibe that won’t break on me, is that really too much to ask? Apparently so, as my cries about this have gone unanswered for a long time. That is, until now, with Hot Octopuss’s brand new clitoral vibrator, which is aiming to be one of the best yet.
Product Description
The Hot Octopuss DiGiT has only been out for about a month, and already is making a name for itself among the sex toy community. I’ve reviewed two other Hot Octopuss products this year, the Queen Bee and PULSE III DUO, and they’ve shown themselves to be one of the best and most innovative sex toy manufacturers around. So when I heard their first clitoral vibrator was coming out, I knew it was something I had to get. Luckily for me, they were kind enough to put me down on the list to get one of the first models! What makes this toy different from most is that it has an adjustable plastic band attached to it, which is designed to fit over your fingers in various combinations. This way the toy becomes wearable and integrated with your body. This idea isn’t 100% new, and I have reviewed a similar product, but it has yet to be done well. Beautifully designed, this product screams luxury, with its refined and sleek look, and black and gold colour scheme. In addition, it also has all the usual features you’d expect from a high quality toy, as it is waterproof, USB rechargeable, and made out of body-safe silicone.
The finger band on the DiGiT is made with a flexible plastic, which is ideal as it allows the toy to work for a variety of different finger sizes. I’ve never had my fingers measured but I’d assume they are about a medium size, and the DiGiT fits onto them in a way that is loose enough to not be restrictive, but tight enough that it would not be able to just fall off. While you can wear it in various ways, my favourite is to have the body of the toy under my index finger, as by doing that it allows my thumb to rest perfectly against the control buttons, which is an ingenious design choice. On that note, this toy has three buttons in total, two on its left hand side (which are accompanied by the company logo), and one on the right hand side (which sits next to the charging port). While a lot of thought has gone into the design of this toy, there are a few little things that could be improved. For instance, the company logo on the top of the plastic has been badly printed, the charging port looks more like a hole in the silicone than something that’s supposed to be there, and where the silicone meets the gold band has been poorly glued.
Unexpected Issues
Sadly, shortly after receiving the Hot Octopuss DiGiT, it broke on me. This is fairly ironic considering my opening statement of asking for a “good quality vibe that won’t break on me”, but I wrote this before the issues began. The problem I faced was that I could not alter the vibration speeds, although this seemed to be more of an issue with the buttons than the motor as the patterns still worked. Hot Octopuss were kind enough to send a replacement so that I could finish the review with a working model, and so I’ll be making references to that throughout the review. One thing of note though, is that other than the obvious functional fix I required, this replacement model also fixed all the aesthetic issues I mentioned in the last paragraph, and you can see comparison photos between the two here. Also worth mentioning is that the photos in this review are of my original model, as I took these before it broke.
Packaging
My order with Hot Octopuss for the DiGiT was placed on the 9th of July and I received it on the 12th, which was amazing considering it was travelling from the UK to Australia. As with my other two Hot Octopuss orders, the box had no mention of the sender but did list the product’s name under the content, so in this case it said “Digit sample”. Thankfully though the word digit is pretty discreet, so I don’t think the postman would have been able to work out what that meant. The packaging was also what I have come to expect from Hot Octopuss, as it was the same closed cardboard box design as usual, featuring information on the toy and a prideful union jack. Inside this the toy then rested in a simple card cut-out, along with an instruction manual, warranty manual, drawstring storage bag, and charging cable. The warranty is for one year.
Charging
As the toy is USB rechargeable, charging it is very simple. Just plug the USB end into a USB port, and then place the other end into the charging port, which is a small hole on the toy’s side. One feature that I liked about the chargers for my other two Hot Octopuss toys was that they featured the company’s logo, making it easy to identify amongst my other chargers, but sadly the DiGiT’s charger does not follow this tradition. When charging the light on the toy will flash, and this will become solid once it is fully charged. The toy should then take 2-3 hours to charge, which will give you 40 minutes of playtime. One thing of note is that on my faulty DiGiT, the charging light was quite obvious and bright, but on the replacement I can barely see it (I took some photos to show what I mean here). I’m not sure which one is supposed to be correct, but this is the one case where I prefer the faulty version.
Controls
Controlling the toy is simple, intuitive and easy to pick up and understand. There are three buttons in total, two on one side and one on the other side. To start, just hold down the solo button for 2 seconds, and this will turn on the toy and put it on its lowest level of vibrations. You can then press the two other buttons to increase and lower the strength of the vibrations, of which there is six levels. You can also press the solo button again to flick between the four pattern modes, which you can also adjust the strength of. Once done, just hold the solo button down again for 2 seconds.
First Impressions
While I enjoyed my previous two Hot Octopuss toys, they both used the brand’s special PulsePlate technology, which makes use of oscillations rather than vibrations. The only vibrations from Hot Octopuss I have tried were on the PULSE III DUO, and as they were more of an afterthought to the oscillations I found them to be weak and buzzy, so I wasn’t really sure what to expect with the DiGiT’s vibes. Thankfully, turning the DiGiT on quickly put my worries to rest, as I discovered surprisingly strong and rumbly vibrations contained in the small toy. In fact, it’s so rumbly and deep that I was quite taken aback. These are the sorts of vibes I expect to feel when I turn on a wand massager, not a clitoral vibrator! As such, these vibrations are definitely on par with my Nu Sensuelle Point, and if anything I think they might be stronger, although the coating of silicone rather than plastic does make them feel a little less intense. In regards to noise level, this was something I was concerned with as the Hot Octopuss Queen Bee and PULSE III DUO are some of the loudest vibrators I own. But while the DiGiT is a little noisy it’s not too bad and I think you’d be alright using this behind a closed door, especially on the lower settings.
My Experience
Testing the Hot Octopuss DiGiT has been a real pleasure. I said before that these are the sort of vibrations I’d expect to be coming out of a wand massager rather than a bullet vibe, and when I’m using it it’s kind of hard to wrap my head around the fact that it isn’t a wand. Despite the obvious shape and size of the toy, the deep vibrations really make it feel as if I am using a massager, and I adore it. Then in terms of the shape, being able to use either the broad rounded side or the hard pin-point style edges depending on the sensations I’m after has been great, and Hot Octopuss were smart by designing it this way. Great orgasms come easily with this toy, and my favourite ways to use it are either alone or during PIV sex.
The only downside to the Hot Octopuss DiGiT in use for me is when I try to use it alongside internal toys. I was initially really excited to use it like this as I thought it would be perfect for it, but it quickly became obvious that I hold and thrust penetrable toys with my right hand, and for the DiGiT to work properly it also needs to be on my right hand. Switching my internal toys to my left hand feels weird and I struggle to thrust with them, and switching the DiGiT to my left hand means that if I wear it over my fingers then I cannot control the vibrations easily, as my thumb rests against the on/off button rather than the vibration controls. The only way for me to comfortably do the two together is to hold the DiGiT in my left hand but not “wear” it as intended, however this is still a bit awkward and I also feel like it defeats the purpose a little. While this isn’t a major issue for me, as it means I just won’t use the toy in this way, it does bring up the issue of the toy possibly not being accessible for those who are left-handed.
Cleaning & Care
Cleaning the Hot Octopuss DiGiT is easy as it is waterproof. Just wipe it down with some warm soapy water, rinse, and then leave to dry. You can then store it in the drawstring bag it came with. Make sure to not use silicone-based lubricant with this product, as it may react badly to the silicone it is made of, but if you do then first perform a spot test.
Final Thoughts
Overall I am smitten with the Hot Octpuss DiGiT. It certainly wasn’t a perfect or straightforward review, especially considering my initial model breaking and having to get a replacement sent from the UK halfway through, but even that wasn’t enough to kill my enthusiasm for this little vibe. A lot of work has clearly gone into the design of this toy and it really shows, and this makes using it such a joy. Plus, the vibrations are WAY above anything I expected, and I think I finally have a toy worthy of taking my faulty Nu Sensuelle Point’s and We-Vibe Tango’s top spots. That is, of course, if it doesn’t break on me again! The only real issue I had with the toy was that as it is primarily designed to be used on the right hand, it was too awkward for me to use in combination with internal toys. So even though I’d honestly recommend this toy to anyone, I do think those who are right-handed or who plan on using this toy either alone or for PIV sex would get the most out of it.

A great toy with rumbly vibrations that does everything it set out to do.
