I’m such a fan of Honey Play Box, that when I tried their new app for the first time a few months ago, I was a bit taken aback. The app itself was fine, a little weird to navigate and without any social features, but otherwise it did what it needed to do. Instead, it was the app on Honey Play Box’s website and the instructions included with my OLY that was not fine… because it was completely different! Not only did the two apps look nothing alike, but many of the advertised features simply didn’t exist on the real thing, causing concerns of false advertising. Of course I let Honey Play Box know my worries, and they quickly got to work updating their website to match the current version. But by then I had finished my testing, and never got the chance to revisit it. Until today, that is, for my review of the Honey Play Box OLY 2!

We hear the phrase “size doesn’t matter” a lot in this industry, but lately it seems like everything is getting smaller! From the exciting new Magic Wand Micro, to my recent review on the Pink Punch Sunset Mushroom, it’s cool to be small these days. Not only does it allow products to be more versatile, working in a greater range of positions and situations, but it offers more privacy too, with toys taking up less space and thus easier to hide or take with you on the go. Plus, a smaller body generally means a smaller motor, which results in less noise. The flip side of this, however, is that it can also mean less power, something these toys are hoping to debunk once and for all. Yet no product has more reason to prove this than the smallest vibrator I’ve ever seen, the Klitton I.

I’ve already tested a handful of app-controlled toys in 2023, but so far none of them have offered the convenience that makes me want to keep using the app in my spare time. Since I’m mostly using toys solo, the best way to incorporate apps into my routine is during extended wear, rather than bedside play. This is what I had hoped for with my recent review of the We-Vibe Ditto+, but with glitches getting in the way of any enjoyment, I was instead left feeling unfilled. That’s when my long-time sponsor Honey Play Box stepped in, who recently released a sex toy app of their own, complete with long-distance control. Debuting alongside it are six compatible toys, including an upgraded thrusting version of the popular Joi that I reviewed a few months ago, however I only had eyes for the OLY, a wearable panty vibrator that I knew would perfectly fill the hole that the Ditto+ had left… or, should I say, the other hole!

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I often feel like clitoral vibrators are the most boring of all the sex toys. Don’t get me wrong, I love them, and if I was forced to give up every sex toy type but one, I’d probably keep them over everything else. But, whereas G-Spot vibrators, wand massagers, and dildos come in all shapes and sizes, clitoral vibrators are generally all the same. Even when they look special and different, like my recent review of the Blush Novelties The Collection Sweet Bunny, they are still essentially the same underneath it all. I’ve also found them to be the most temperamental of all sex toys, as my two favourite clit vibes, the We-Vibe Tango and Nu Sensuelle Point, are both faulty and barely work most of the time. I am in desperate need for a new good quality vibe that won’t break on me, is that really too much to ask? Apparently so, as my cries about this have gone unanswered for a long time. That is, until now, with Hot Octopuss’s brand new clitoral vibrator, which is aiming to be one of the best yet.

It’s been a few years now since I’ve written a ‘Mini Review’ for the blog, a category previously reserved for Toy Cleaners. But recently I’ve acquired a few items as gifts, that while I’m under no obligation to write about and that aren’t even really substantial enough as a product to give a regular review to, I still want to share my thoughts on. As such, Mini Reviews are probably something that will become a bit more regular on the blog now! I love seeing sex toys being talked about in the mainstream media, and if there is one company that is superb at getting attention from media that would usually see sex toys as taboo, it is Dame Products. It’s no surprise, their branding is that of a minimalist and trendy gadget start-up for millennials rather than a sex toy, and quite frankly it is refreshing to see. Their second product Fin, that I am reviewing today, broke records as the first ever sex toy campaign on Kickstarter, and brought in almost $400,000 worth of pledges, despite only having a $50,000 goal. This immediately told me that this toy was going to be a big deal. Since I never tried their first product, Eva, which had a similar crowdfunding success, I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect. But I did remember hearing that it wasn’t all that great. The Fin’s Kickstarter video looked so good though that I truly believed it would finally cement Dame as a quality sex toy manufacturer. But, then I read this interview, where the product designer states their ‘research‘ of sex toys is based on their purchases from Amazon…. and it all went downhill from there.
