Honey Play Box OLY

I’ve already tested a handful of app-controlled toys in 2023, but so far none of them have offered the convenience that makes me want to keep using the app in my spare time. Since I’m mostly using toys solo, the best way to incorporate apps into my routine is during extended wear, rather than bedside play. This is what I had hoped for with my recent review of the We-Vibe Ditto+, but with glitches getting in the way of any enjoyment, I was instead left feeling unfilled. That’s when my long-time sponsor Honey Play Box stepped in, who recently released a sex toy app of their own, complete with long-distance control. Debuting alongside it are six compatible toys, including an upgraded thrusting version of the popular Joi that I reviewed a few months ago, however I only had eyes for the OLY, a wearable panty vibrator that I knew would perfectly fill the hole that the Ditto+ had left… or, should I say, the other hole!

Product Description

The Honey Play Box OLY, formerly known as the LOLI, is a kind of wearable dual-stimulator that is most commonly referred to as a panty vibe. While these can sometimes be more of a U shape, like the Monster Pub Master Gokilla 2 Premium or the partner-accommodating We-Vibe Chorus, this vaginal toy instead looks more like a large butt plug, similar to the Honey Play Box Crave. Motors are present in both the insertable end, which features a curved bulb for G-Spot stimulation, and the longer side of the base, whilst a thin and flexible neck ensures comfort. My copy comes in a beautiful light blue shade, although Honey Play Box also offers the OLY in light pink, and the body-safe silicone it is made of is soft to the touch and quite squishy, which was an unexpected delight. On the outside of its base, you’ll find a single button for controlling the OLY or connecting it to the HoneyPlayBox app, as well as magnetic plates for its charger to connect to and the US brand’s logo. Then, at the tip of the base intended for clitoral stimulation, the sides have been raised slightly in order to enhance sensation. Finally, the OLY is also USB rechargeable and fully waterproof, and whilst it is safe for anal play, it is not intended for it.

Packaging

My order for the OLY was placed with Honey Play Box on the 23rd of August and I received it promptly on the 29th. Unfortunately a recurring problem with the retailer seems to be privacy, and once again the box was not discreet, listing Honey Play Box as the sender and the contents as a “Mini personal massager”. As for the packaging of the toy itself, this at first glance looks to be the brand’s typical box that I’ve received all of their past products in, but upon closer inspection it is actually a little different. Whilst the initial appearance is the same, featuring an image of the OLY alongside info on what it can do and some beautiful branding, this is all now on a removable sleeve rather than being printed directly on the box itself. This means that you can simply slide this cover off whenever you want, to reveal a white high-quality box underneath. This is almost entirely discreet, with the only exceptions being the Honey Play Box branding and a very small mention of sexual health on the back, so for any prying eyes they would have no real way of knowing what this is unless they do an internet search or have prior brand knowledge. Plus, with a lovely illustration on the front, it’s just damn pretty, and absolutely reusable. Opening this up, you’ll then find the OLY resting safely in foam, alongside its charging cord and two manuals, one for the toy itself and one for the app. Also included for the very first time from this brand is a storage pouch, which is a beautiful green and gold drawstring bag with just the Honey Play Box pictorial logo on it, making it discreet. Finally, the OLY comes with Honey Play Box’s usual one year warranty.

Charging

Honey Play Box OLY charging

Charging the Honey Play Box OLY is easy since it is USB rechargeable. Simply plug one end into a USB port, and then connect the other to the metal plates on the toy. These will attach to each other magnetically, but do be careful as the connection strength isn’t the strongest and so the two may separate on their own. Charging should then take two hours to give you one and a half hours of use, with the light flashing when the battery is being filled and then becoming solid upon completion. In addition, Honey Play Box recommends charging the OLY before first use.

Controls

Since the Honey Play Box OLY is intended for use with the app, the controls on the toy itself are sparse. There is only one button, which gives you access to the two motor’s nine vibration modes, three of which are steady speeds and six of which are patterns. To turn the toy on and off, simply hold down the button, with success being indicated by the light on it turning on or off. Although I will say this light isn’t very strong, and in a well lit room is completely invisible, which does make control a little tricky. Plus, when worn you definitely have no chance of seeing it, so I really think a quick vibration to let you know the toy has turned on would have been so much better here. After this you can just continue clicking the button to cycle through the nine modes, with the dual motors running together, before it returns to standby mode.

The App

Going into a new sex toy app, I usually don’t know what to expect. But between Honey Play Box’s info page about it on their website and the manual I received with the toy, I thought I was pretty well prepared. So you can imagine my surprise when I started using it, only to find it is completely different! I understand apps get updates and a printed manual is always going to become outdated eventually, but considering this product was only released a month ago, I wasn’t expecting it to be useless already. Then there’s the fact that the Honey Play Box website also shows the old version of the app. Now, I want to preface this by mentioning that, while it needs some fixes, I really like the simplicity of this app, which has easy bluetooth and long-distance control. However, many of the features that are advertised on the Honey Play Box website, such as the online chat and community aspects, have been removed entirely. If I wasn’t expecting these, then it would have been fine, but since I was, that’s a big no no, and is straight up false advertising. As for my thoughts on the rest of the app, as well as its key features and issues I experienced, you can find them all at my sex toy app review round-up.

First Impressions

Turning the Honey Play Box OLY on for the first time, I found the vibrations were strong, but otherwise quite buzzy, with the two motors feeling the same. This then contributes to a high-pitched volume, which is not ideal for a wearable vibrator such as this. It means that even when the OLY is running at its lowest speed, it can be easily heard when worn, making any discreet public use with the motors running pretty much impossible.

My Experience

Inserting the Honey Play Box OLY is easy. Other than a general feeling of naughtiness, it doesn’t offer anything when turned off since it cannot be moved, so I immediately start by turning on the vibrations. Sadly the internal arm’s motor gets rather lost within me, since there is not enough force for it to stimulate my G-Spot. However, the external arm sits perfectly over my clitoris, and even though the vibrations aren’t the best, there is enough pressure here for them to absolutely satisfy me. The little raised notches help with this, and if I want even more I can simply lift the opposite side of the base up, but overall this is an easy way to enjoy hands-free pleasure, and I’ve had some great orgasms in my short time testing the OLY. If anything, the worst part of using this toy is simply after the orgasm, as I typically like to immediately stop and take a break before continuing. But to do this without the app, I need to hold down the button on the toy’s base, which only forces more vibrations on my now overwhelmed clitoris. Although considering all the potential things that can go wrong with a toy, that’s a pretty good problem to have. As for using the OLY with the app, I really enjoyed this, since when using the “free touch” mode I get access to a far greater range of steady speeds, which is perfect for my style of play. Unfortunately, I’ve found that if you leave the app during this (such as if you open a browser to watch porn), the vibrations will turn off after 30 seconds or so. Since this is how I usually like to play, it ended up making app use quite difficult for me, and ultimately I resorted to just using the buttons for most of my testing.

Honey Play Box OLY storage bag
I love the Honey Play Box OLY’s luxurious green and gold bag, although it is much too big for the toy.

As for using the OLY for extended wear, I found it partly effective. The shape is big enough to be noticeable, but not so much that it’s difficult to keep in (as long as you have supportive underwear), and the vibrations are still satisfying. The downside is really just how buzzy the motors are, as not only do you need to contend with the noise I mentioned earlier, but you will get numbed out quicker than with a rumbly toy, meaning you aren’t really going to want to have the vibrations running for long periods of time. With all of this in mind, I reckon this toy is better off for hands-free private partner play, whether in person or long-distance, rather than as a wearable panty vibrator around the house or in public.

Cleaning & Care

Cleaning the Honey Play Box OLY is easy since it is made from silicone and is waterproof. Just throw it in some soapy water when you’re done, give it a wash, rinse, and then dry. You can then store it in a zip-lock bag to keep it clean, as the silicone attracts dust. Furthermore, make sure to not use silicone-based lubricant with this product, as it may react badly to the silicone it is made of, but if you do then first perform a spot test.

Final Thoughts

Going into my review of the Honey Play Box OLY, I was hoping for a wearable panty vibrator to fill the void left by the We-Vibe Ditto+. I was promised quiet vibrations for discreet use alongside a comprehensive app for easy control, and I intended to make the most of these features. Sadly, things didn’t quite work out like that. This toy is far from quiet when worn, and many of the features Honey Play Box promote for their app simply do not exist. But despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed the OLY for hands-free play in bed, with its external arm feeling like it was made for my clitoris. Plus, whilst the app suffers greatly from its false advertising, if you can manage to ignore this, it actually does an okay job. The in-person partner play is easy, giving you more vibration modes than you can access without it, and I’m so pleased to see a long-distance option where the partner without the toy doesn’t need to mess around also installing the app. And while there may be no in-app chat functions, I can 100% imagine the OLY being used hands-free over a Zoom call, and the fact that this is the cheapest long-distance toy that I’ve tried doesn’t hurt either. So, whilst I may not be able to recommend this toy as a panty vibrator for extended wear, as a budget option for hands-free or long-distance play, it’s absolutely worth it. I just hope Honey Play Box get their website updated ASAP!
