SquarePegToys Nathan Firmer

One of last year’s stand-out posts for me has to be my review of the SquarePegToys G squeeze. Coming in at Number 3 in my Top 10 Sex Toys of 2021, I don’t think it’d be an exaggeration to say it was also one of the year’s most anticipated reviews, and has since become one of my most popular too. Taking on the often under-appreciated vaginal plug and reimagining it for the future, the only thing that equalled my love for the G squeeze was my desire to try more from the US maker. So when Peepshow Toys reached out to me recently to let me know SquarePegToys had a new release on the horizon that they were exclusive retailers for, I couldn’t have said yes to reviewing it quicker.

Product Description

The SquarePegToys Nathan Firmer is a rerelease of one of the toys from their popular Realistics line, just in a firmer silicone. A diverse range of lifecast designs, meaning they are replicas taken from an actual person, the collection had previously only been offered in the brand’s signature SuperSoft silicone, with a choice of either testicles or a harness-compatible base (which also had the option of coming with either a suction cup or Vac-U-Lock hole). After much demand for a firmer alternative though, the Realistics Firmer range was announced this year, which, despite the name, is really just slightly firmer than SuperSoft, so in truth it’s more of a medium density. Four of the original models, Mel, Nathan, Leo, and Dirk, were included in this rerelease, and they are only currently available in the harness-compatible suction cup design. Of these four, however, there are actually seven designs on offer, with all besides Mel coming in two different casts, to ensure for a wide variety of sizes.

SquarePegToys Nathan Firmer Close-Up

After discussing the different options with Peepshow Toys, we decided that the SquarePegToys Nathan Firmer in its Actual Size would suit me best, which I would say is probably the most “average” toy from the range, being not too long and not too thick, but juuuust right. With a length of just 14.5cm / 5.7″, it’s one of the shorter dildos in my collection, and reminds me a lot of the 16cm / 6.25″ Tantus Pack ‘n Play No.2, which is one of my favourites. Unlike the Pack ‘n Play, however, is its girth, which, with a head diameter of 4cm / 1.57″ and maximum diameter of 4.7cm / 1.85″ (which is at the base of its shaft) is a tad more than I typically use. With plenty of realistic detailing, it’s then not a surprise that this toy is a lifecast, although what is surprising is that it happens to be my first (at least as far as I know). Veins, pores, and skin texture are all present, alongside a prominent head, and I love that nothing about it is symmetrical, with it instead being organically curved to the left. The silicone then has a good squish whilst remaining a medium density, which feels quite realistic, and at the base (which is also harness-compatible and anal-safe) you’ll find SquarePegToy’s FlushCup, which is their signature suction cup. On that note, three light engravings can be found on the toy, one that says “FlushCup” on the very bottom, and two that say “Nathan” and “2015 SquarePegToys” around the sides of the base. Finally, the same two shimmery colour options as the G squeeze are available, Pink Sugar and Ultra Violet, and I received the Nathan in Pink Sugar. However, this would be my only downside appearance-wise, as I just find the pink when used on a realistic dildo too fleshy for my tastes, and much prefer the purple.

Packaging

SquarePegToys Nathan Firmer Packaging

My order for the SquarePegToys Nathan Firmer in Actual Size was placed with Peepshow Toys around the 29th of April and I promptly received it on the 4th of May. The box was then 100% discreet, with no mention of who had sent it or what was inside. As with the G squeeze, the packaging for the Nathan itself was extremely minimal, just being a ziplock bag with a few stickers on it listing what it is, some information on the company, and how to care for it. While not the most luxurious, I love how practical this is, and considering SquarePegToys are a small business, nothing else is really necessary. Plus, it keeps things eco-friendly, as not only is there no waste, but you can keep the ziplock bag to store the toy in.

My Experience

While the SqaurePegToys Nathan Firmer can come off as quite average in size, its lifecast design certainly offers some surprises that change things up from the standard dildo designs that I am use to. Whilst the head is fairly regular and the widest point is at the base, there is also a secondary area of girth just under the head that comes in at 4.1cm / 1.61″, and considering this is much more likely to be felt than the larger size at the bottom of the shaft, I would say it is the toy’s “true” maximum diameter. This, then combined with the firmer silicone (although I should reiterate it’s simply firmer than SuperSoft, and still a lot softer than many of my dildos) means insertion can take a little bit of time, and to make things easier I like to warm up with my Funkit Toys NoFrillDo R and Tantus Pack ‘n Play No.2 first if I have time.

SquarePegToys Nathan Firmer Base

Using the SquarePegToys Nathan Firmer has been a truly wonderful experience. More than just realistic in looks, it feels very close to the real thing in use, and I’m sure the more muscle-like silicone of the Firmer range excels at this more than the previous SuperSoft would have done. When inserting it, all of that texture and detailing adds to this fantasy, whilst SquarePegToy’s efforts to smooth this over after the casting process ensures that the feeling isn’t too intense or scratchy. But more than anything else, it is the gentle ramp up of girth just under the head that really makes the Nathan for me. While I’ve tried a few toys now that feature their widest point in the middle of the shaft, such as the Uberrime Spiro, I find that it is the subtly that really makes this element shine here. Rather than feeling like some bump to get over, and then potentially stay on one side of, the Nathan’s girth only increases by a small amount, and this combined with such a wide taper and squishy silicone results in an area that is incredibly satisfying to use, and I simply can’t get enough of it. Focusing on this area, I like to slowly thrust it in and out of my entrance to really get the most out of it, and even though the toy is not long enough or angled enough to really stimulate my A- or G-Spots, I am convinced that it still manages to provide some G-Spot pleasure as it passes by this location. Plus, having the rest of the shaft being somewhat thinner also helps to highlight it, and provides an ideal filling sensation in use, whether I am moving the toy or not. Finally, when nearing climax, I like to get a good grip on the base (which is quite comfortable to hold, I should mention), and then finish off with some fast, deep thrusts, which its short length makes easy whilst also helping to exaggerate.

Suction Cup

SquarePegToys Nathan Firmer Suction Cup
You can just about see the inscription “FlushCup” here. Also note that the base has a small cut in the silicone, however this did not effect use.

The suction cup on the Nathan Firmer is actually SquarePegToy’s signature FlushCup, which is designed to better than a typical suction cup as it allows for toys to sit flush with the surface they’re placed on. This makes more sense in person, as you can barely tell the suction cup is there, with it going into the toy rather than being an external element. Something this also seems to help with, is that suction cups often have a tendency to stick to everything, including my hand during use, which can be a little annoying. But the Nathan seems to understand that not every time I place it down I want it to remain there, and only really “sticks” when I put in the force required. This is great, and results in a super strong suction cup that has been a pleasure to use.

Cleaning & Care

As the SquarePegToys Nathan Firmer is 100% silicone and waterproof, cleaning it is easy. To start, I’d recommend soaking it in some warm soapy water, and then you may also want to give any prominent areas of texture a scrub with a spare toothbrush. After this you can rinse it with hot water, leave to air dry, and then return it to its ziplock bag to keep it clean (as otherwise it’ll attract dust). For a more complete clean every few uses, or when switching the toy between orifices or partners, you can then sterilize it by soaking it in a 10% bleach solution or boiling it. SquarePegToys also recommend storing the toy upright if you can, and even more detailed care instructions can be found on its packaging. Finally, whilst silicone lubricant is compatible with the Nathan, SquarePegToys do mention that it will make the toy more difficult to hold and clean.

Final Thoughts

SquarePegToys Nathan Firmer

After the roaring success of the highly innovative SquarePegToys G squeeze, a regular dildo (and one of their older designs at that!) didn’t seem like it would be able to compare. But instead I have not only thoroughly enjoyed every minute of testing the Nathan Firmer in Actual Size, but it has quickly risen through the ranks to become one of my favourite dildos. Even though visually it’s not that much more realistic than toys like my Tantus Gary and Vixen Mustang, it’s like my vagina knows it’s a lifecast, because from the organic shape to subtle detailing, there’s no doubt it is one of the most natural feeling toys I have used. Plus, while I jumped at the chance to try a new SquarePegToys product, I’ll admit that I initially thought that the SuperSoft version would have probably suited me more. But after trying this take on the Nathan, I can’t imagine having a different silicone, because the current density is vital to the filling feeling and G-Spot stimulation I have so enjoyed. Overall, the SquarePegToys Firmer Realistics line will definitely be my go-to recommendation for lifelike toys from now on for those who don’t mind lifecasts. Plus, whilst the Nathan certainly suited me, as always I’d recommend carefully reading over any measurements yourself before making a purchase, to select your perfect choice!

4 Comments on Review: SquarePegToys Nathan Firmer

    • I’d say it is slightly softer, but mostly because it does not have a firm inner core like the Mustang. So in that regard the Mustang’s head (where there is no core) is the softest point of the two.

    • While both dildos, the two toys are very different. The Utopia is quite a slim, basic shape, so I find it good for warming up rather than being super stimulating. Although with this in mind, it’s ideal for beginners or as a starter dildo. The Nathan, on the other hand, is on the larger side and completely realistic. Personally, I find it very stimulating and the better of the two. But I wouldn’t recommend it to beginners, nor those who don’t enjoy realistic toys or those over 1.6″ in diameter.
