If I had to choose just one company that I get most excited for new releases from, it think I would have to be Hot Octopuss. Unlike most other brands who are pumping out new toy ranges all the time, this award-winning UK team only announces a few select products a year, and you can always tell that each piece has been carefully designed to not only provide immense pleasure, but also to stand out and bring something new to the table, whether it’s just to their brand or the industry as a whole. Starting out in the world of penis and couples toys, their masturbators are the only solo sex toys my partner uses, and they make up some of our favourite dual devices too. As for me, I’ve been thoroughly enjoying watching Hot Octopuss slowly expand to produce a small range of clitoral toys over the past few years, starting with the now discontinued Queen Bee, and more recently with the DiGiT and AMO, which is one of my all-time favourite bullets, placing in my Top 10 Sex Toys of 2020. But the G-Spot is one area I’ve still been eagerly awaiting to see them tackle, and now with the release of the KURVE it seems it is finally happening!

Lovehoney Fifty Shades of Grey Greedy Girl

As a sex toy reviewer I feel like I’m always looking at new releases and trying to discover that next big thing, but if we were going to talk about products that have stood the test of time to be well loved years after their launch, then I’d be remiss to not mention Lovehoney’s hugely popular Greedy Girl from their Fifty Shades of Grey line. The UK retailer’s collaboration with the best-selling book series is one of their most notable collections, but no product from it has ever quite come close to the cult-status that this classic black rabbit has acquired. For years now I’ve watched it consistently rank as one of Lovehoney’s best selling products, and to be perfectly honest I always just assumed it was because of the FSOG craze, and nothing more. But with the film adaptations over, and the books celebrating their 10th year anniversary, the fad may be gone but the Greedy Girl’s sales have shown no signs of slowing down. So today, with the help of JOUJOU, I think it is finally time to see what all the fuss is about!

If you follow me on social media then you’ll know that I am currently in the midst of a festive collaboration with Lovehoney! Titled the 12 Days of Christmas, it’s something we’ve been working on quietly for the last few months, and I’ve been so excited to finally be able to share it with all of you! Basically we put our sex toy expertise together to come up with a list of twelve items from their store that we thought would make the ultimate gifts this holiday season, and now it’s December I’ve been slowly revealing a new one each day over at my Twitter and Instagram in the lead-up to Christmas. As an Australian I don’t tend to make as big as a deal here about the current spooky season as some of my overseas friends, but growing up in Britain means that Halloween is still very much a holiday that holds a dear place in my heart. Still, it’s because of this, and my usual affinity for cute rather than horror toys, that it’s not often you’ll find me participating in any spooktober-style reviews. So when Lovehoney recently reached out to me about their new October releases, my eyes were immediately drawn to the adorable-looking Glow-in-the-Dark Dildo far more than any of their Halloween inspired products. Little did I know however, that when the lights are turned off this dildo become possibly the most spooky of them all! Thus, for the very first time, here I am with a extra special Halloween review!

Last year my partner and I had the pleasure of reviewing Hot Octopuss’s amazing masturbator meets couples toy, the PULSE III DUO, which has since been renamed as simply the PULSE DUO. Completely unique to anything I’ve ever tried before, it was a huge stand out for me, but as my partner’s first ever toy in general, it was a big deal. Unfortunately, though, right after that review our lives got pretty busy, we moved house and he took on a new full-time job, and so the PULSE DUO sadly got tucked away into his underwear drawer and mostly forgotten about. This year, however, we (like everybody else) have had a lot more time on our hands, and when lockdown started one of the first things my partner asked me was, “What ever happened to that Hot Octopuss toy?”. Well, I was more than happy to remind him of its location, but I also knew that a newer version, dubbed the PULSE DUO LUX, had recently been released, and asked if he would be interested in trying it with me, to which I received a resounding yes. Luckily the lovely folks over at Hot Octopuss were then kind enough to send one out for review, thus making our self-isolation a hell of a lot more fun!

If I had to name one initiative in the sex toy industry that I really love, I think I would have to say Lovehoney’s Design a Sex Toy competition. Launched in 2009, the contest is essentially just a way for Lovehoney to come up with new sex toy ideas, except unlike other companies who may just take a customer’s idea and run with it, Lovehoney definitely make it worth your while. Aside from a $5K cash prize upon your idea being chosen, you will also receive royalties from the product if Lovehoney decide to actually make it. In fact, you’ve probably heard of the Sqweel, which, aside from being the first product to win the contest, went on to become so popular that it ended up making its creator over $600K AUD in royalties. So yeah, the Lovehoney Design a Sex Toy competition is a pretty big deal, and if you ever have an idea worth entering I’d highly advise it. Anyway, the reason I’m talking about all of this is because today I will be reviewing the latest winner of the contest, which is a toy so different that Lovehoney have even gone so far as to include the word “revolutionary” in its tagline. Introducing… the Lovehoney Gyr8tor.
