I’m a big fan of Dildo Nightmares, and whenever I see a toy that fits the brief, I can’t help but share it to my socials. In this regard, the AcmeJoy Ferrill Thruster has become a regular, with its realistic dual-stimulator style growth that looks straight out of an eldritch abomination. It never fails to freak people out and get some laughs, something I’m always more than happy to provide. So, when AcmeJoy recently reached out and asked if I would like to review something from their store, it was the first thing that came to my mind. Then, perhaps against my better judgement, I requested it, and now here we are. I do wonder, as the thing sits across from me, am I now cursed for daring to put something so depraved inside of myself? Mostly likely, but alas, let us continue with the review.
Product Description
The AcmeJoy Ferrill Thruster, or “Ferrill 9 Vibrating Tongue Licking 3 Thrusting & Swinging Heating 8.67 Inch Realistic Dildo” as the AcmeJoy website calls it, is what happens when someone decides to make a realistic dual-stimulator. While many sex toys are already based off of real genitals, such as realistic dildos, rabbits are one of the few insertable products that deviate from this, and we as a species have been content with this till now, considering it’s disturbing AF to add on an extra arm to a realistic-looking vibrator. But I guess AcmeJoy decided to go with it anyway, complete with wrinkles and veins! Outside of its appearance, however, the Ferrill Thruster is actually quite an advanced sex toy. Promoted as a 4-in-1 product, similar to my previous review for AcmeJoy on the Allovers 4-in-1 Thruster, the internal shaft can vibrate, thrust, swing and heat. In addition, the clitoral arm also has its own motor for vibrations, and to top it all off, it comes with a three button remote control. Full realism is applied to the main shaft, which ends in a pair of testicles, and below this you’ll find a strong suction cup alongside the toy’s single-button control and magnetic charging plates. Only available in one light skin tone, the AcmeJoy Ferrill Thruster is then made of a body-safe silicone (which I confirmed with a flame test) that is quite tacky in feel, resulting in easy attraction of lint and dust. While soft in some areas, mostly notably the heads of the two shafts, other portions of the toy are very firm, with the inner electronics being clearly felt. This makes for a toy that feels bigger than it would if the entirety was soft, and so the dimensions to consider are an insertable length of around 5.9″ / 15cm (with an additional .59″ / 1.5cm being added upon extension), a total length of 8.3″ / 21.2cm, and a maximum diameter of 1.53″ / 3.9cm. Then, whilst the product is USB rechargeable, it frustratingly is not fully waterproof, which is a huge downside for any product in this day and age. Finally, the Ferrill Thruster is anal safe, although it is not intended for this kind of play.
Packaging
My order with AcmeJoy for the Ferrill Thruster was placed on the 17th of February and I received it on the 28th. While the sender was not listed, unfortunately it did list the items inside as “massager”. As for the packaging of the toy itself, this was then similar to many white-label products I review, since rather than being specific to the Ferrill Thruster, it was instead a generic black box. Although rather than being fully discreet like usual, there is some text on the side that says things like “This product is suitable for adults, non-contraceptive”, and so most could probably guess as to the contents. Inside, I then found the toy alongside its remote, as well as its charging cord and a single-sheet instruction manual. However, whilst there are similarities, it doesn’t appear that the instructions are actually for the Ferrill Thruster, since the toy in the image has no external arm and the specifications and directions don’t match up. Plus, the English is not great, repeatedly referring to the toy as a “trusting dildo” instead of thrusting.
Charging
Since the AcmeJoy Ferrill Thruster is USB rechargeable, charging it is easy. Simply plug one end into a USB port, and the other end will connect magnetically to the plates under the toy’s testicles. Plus, the strength of the magnets is quite strong, so you won’t need to worry about the charger falling off. Once attached, a light on the toy will blink to indicate charging, and then become solid once complete, with this taking around two hours to give you around one hour of use. As for the remote, this uses a 27A 12V battery, which is included.
Controls
With four different functions in the main shaft of the AcmeJoy Ferrill Thruster and another in the external shaft, I had no idea how that was possibly going to work with just one button on the toy, so I was very thankful for the addition of the remote. Starting with manual control anyway though, it turns out that AcmeJoy just decided to make this some kind of free-for-all, as turning the toy on by holding down the button for two seconds (which is actually quite difficult to press) just turns everything on at once, with the exception of the heating which doesn’t seem to be controllable manually. Initially starting off in stand-by mode, as indicated by a flashing light, continuing to click the button then allows you to cycle through nine modes with everything running at once, which is just as chaotic as you’d imagine. This is particularly bad since whilst the vibrations do, in fact, have nine modes, the thrusting / swinging only has three, so together the two are a random mix of speeds and patterns that don’t really blend, and thus using the toy like this is pretty dang difficult.
Thankfully, controlling the toy with the remote is much easier. First, place the AcmeJoy Ferrill Thruster into stand-by mode by using the manual control, and then press the middle button on the remote to turn it on and connect the two, which will automatically activate the vibrations, thrusting and swinging modes. You can then control the two vibration motors and the thrusting and swinging modes separately, and while I would have loved to have every function independently controlled, I’ll take it. To control the vibrations, simply press the zig-zag button, and this will allow you to cycle through nine modes, three of which are steady speeds and six of which are patterns. The three speeds of the thrusting and swinging modes can then be accessed by using the power button again, and these are a fast thrust, randomised thrust, and slow thrust, which is an understandably annoying order. At any time you can then hold down the vibrations button to pause this function, or the power button to pause everything (which means you are able to use just one of these two modes at a time), although keep in mind that the toy will skip to the next mode before it turns off. When finished, you’ll just need to turn the toy off with the button on its base. Overall, the remote works well, although every now and then I find a click doesn’t register, or alternatively counts as two.
Heating
To activate the AcmeJoy Ferrill Thruster’s heating mode, simply press the flame button on the remote whilst the two are connected. The toy will then slowly heat up, reaching its maximum temperature of 100.4°F / 38°C in a couple of minutes. However, only one small area of the shaft receives this heat, which is directly under the head where the foreskin sits. This, combined with the intensity of the heat and how long it takes to warm up, certainly feels a little strange to have targeted in just one spot, and so I’m not the biggest fan. In fact, the first time I used the Ferrill Thruster, I thought it was too large for me as there was such a painful sensation in my vagina, but eventually I just realised it was the heat causing the discomfort, since this is just before the toy’s widest point.
First Impressions
While they look fairly different, the only other product I have reviewed from AcmeJoy just so happens to also be a realistic multi-function thruster, and so I expected much of the same experience from the Ferrill Thruster. This is certainly the case in regards to how the thrusting itself works, as rather than using magnets or an accordion-style design like other thrusters I have tried, this toy simply extends and allows its stretchy silicone to do the rest of the work. Although unlike the Allovers 4-in-1 Thruster, the Ferrill Thruster only increases its length by a small amount. Then, again similar is that the thrusting and swinging modes are actually just one and the same, and it is simply that the toy happens to move left and right whilst it thrusts to create this effect, which is why they cannot be controlled separately. Considering the small range of movement combined with only two speeds (which aren’t that different), however, I must say I was immediately concerned if the Ferrill Thruster was providing enough of its namesake. As for the vibrations, these feel the same in both shafts, but ultimately are quite weak and buzzy across the three speeds. Plus, unlike some flicking stimulators which have a motorised flap that moves back and forth, the Thruster’s “tongue” is literally just a piece of silicone that moves due to the residual vibrations from a motor that isn’t even that close, making me unsure how effective it will be. Finally, the noise level of this toy is predictably high, particularly when the thrusting is running, and so I would not recommend it when privacy is needed.
My Experience
Since the AcmeJoy Ferrill Thruster is a little on the large side for a vibrator, especially as most of the shaft is quite firm (and all of it needs to be used, so that the external arm can reach your clitoris), insertion can take a little while. This is helped greatly by the squishy head, however, and to make things even easier I like to first start off with a small warming-up dildo, such as the Funkit Toys NoFrillDo R. Once inserted, I quickly find that the Thruster doesn’t make contact with my G-Spot, although thankfully I have better luck with the external arm, which rests comfortably over my clitoris. Turning the vibrations on, I then don’t really get much out of the internal motor, but I am able to feel the little flap moving around over my clitoris. This sadly isn’t great though, and since I don’t really enjoy flicking stimulation at the best of times, I instead opt to move this element out of the way and position myself as close to the external motor as possible, which also provides more of the clitoral pressure I’m looking for. Then, turning on the thrusting and swinging mode, I find this works well, and unlike the Allovers 4-in-1 Thruster, I don’t have any issues with the thrusting stopping due to the pressure of my vagina. Instead, it all runs smoothly, and I can even hold it between my legs for hands-free use. Unfortunately though, even with this, I just don’t feel like the Ferrill Thruster is moving fast enough, and typically I resort to thrusting it myself, which doesn’t really work that well when the toy is also moving, as it’s like the two cancel each other out. Overall, using it like this I have had some good orgasms, but honestly I would prefer it if the toy wasn’t moving… and if it wasn’t so firm and straight… and if the vibrations were stronger… and basically if it just was something else entirely.
Cleaning & Care
The biggest immediate downside to the AcmeJoy Ferrill Thruster is that it is not waterproof. Especially since I feel almost tricked, as on the website it just says “Waterproof: IPX5”, which in my mind made me think “okay, it’s waterproof to IPX5”. But when I actually Googled that upon receiving the toy, it turns out IPX5 means that it is simply water-resistant, rather than submersible. Not to mention that the instructions, which don’t even seem to be its instructions, list it as being “waterproof for life”, before later saying to not use it directly in water. With this in mind, you’ll need to immediately rinse the toy after use, and scrub it down with soap. I’d recommend using a spare toothbrush, as the amount of detail on a realistic product like this means there are plenty of areas for bacteria to hide. Afterwards you can rinse it and leave it to air dry, before storing it in a zip-lock bag to keep clean. Additionally, make sure to not use silicone-based lubricants with this product, as it may react negatively to the toy’s material.
Final Thoughts
At just $87 AUD / $58 USD at the time of writing, the AcmeJoy Ferrill Thruster is the cheapest thrusting sex toy I have tried. And considering these are one of the most expensive styles of pleasure product around and that this one also has an external arm and a bunch of other advanced features, it is no small feat. A vast improvement from my previous review in the category, and for AcmeJoy, on the Allovers 4-in-1 Thruster, every element of this 4-in-1 product worked, even if not always to the best of its ability. But again, when you consider the price, even this is commendable. The thrusting and swinging functioned well, not slowing down even when in use, whilst the vibrations were ultimately enough to bring me to a satisfying orgasm, aided by the fact that the external arm sat perfectly over my clitoris. Plus, any concerns of control were immediately out the window with the presence of a remote, which was my favourite aspect of this product and one it will be hard to not expect of all thrusters and dual-stimulators from now on. Of course, major downsides were the heating technology, incorrect instruction manual, and small range of thrusting speeds / movement, and so these will be for you to weigh up if they are worth it. But if you are after a low-price thruster and can get past the visuals, then this is certainly an option worth considering.

Despite its appearance, this toy provides an abundance of decent features for a surprisingly low price.
