Uncover Creations Tentacle Grinder II

Going from never trying a grinder before to reviewing six of them at once last year in my Grinder Round-Up was certainly a risky decision, but one that I’m so glad I made, with this new style of sex toy being one of the highlights of 2022. Since then, I’ve reviewed three more, (the luxury Vibe Pad and innovative Godemiche Grind Ring in Pyramids and Bubbles), and with another three now on the way (Banana Pant’s Bumpher, Shagger & Honeybunch), this exciting new trend is showing no signs of slowing down. Of course, today’s review is also on a grinder, and this one is a real beauty. The Tentacle Grinder II from small business Uncover Creations is certainly a sight to behold, with its large singular tentacle protruding from the ocean depths that is its base.

Earlier this year I took a risk covering a new type of sex toy that could have easily just turned out to be a quick fad. But it paid off in spades, with my Grinder Round-Up not only being my most popular post of the year, but one of the most viewed posts on my blog of all-time, cementing the unique style’s place as the toy of 2022. Since then, the interpretations of what a grinder can be have only continued, and I’ve received multiple offers and requests to review more of them. I was more than happy to oblige, of course, and so you can expect to see a lot more of these rideable and lay-on toys at the blog soon. To kick that off, we have UK small business Godemiche’s version, which just so happens to be one of the first grinders I became aware of, and one that I originally intended to include in the Round-Up. But it looks like it all worked out for the best, because not only have Godemiche sent me two of their Grind Ring, but they’ve thrown in its V-Plate attachment as well!

To celebrate that, today I wanted to take a look back at one of the OG micro-makers that started it all, and the first one that I ever purchased from all the way back in 2016. An unexpected positive to how much time we’ve all collectively spent inside over the last few years, has to be the rise of the independent sex toy maker. But as these silicone artisans continue to elevate what we previously thought was possible, with dildos and other non-electrical toys available for the first time in a huge range of shapes, styles, and colours, it’s starting to make the bigger brands realise that we aren’t going to be satisfied with just flesh tones and pinks and purples any longer. Rather, we want the same level of choice and innovation when it comes to dildos as with vibrators and suction toys. So, when I first saw the Dildolls range by French manufacturer Love to Love, I knew they got it, and it’s been no surprise to me that these eye-catching toys have since become such a sensation.

Like many people, grinding was my entry point into the world of masturbation. Whether it meant rubbing at my vulva by hand or going on top of my pillows at night, I was doing it long before I even knew what a vibrator was. But now, after seven years of testing hundreds of sex toys, it’s not often I find myself resorting to this kind of “acoustic” play anymore. After all, I have all kinds of gadgets that can achieve the same thing for far less effort, and thus grinding had become but a distant memory. So, you can imagine my surprise when in 2021 a new toy trend seemingly emerged out of nowhere: grinders. From indie makers releasing a wave of textured non-insertables, to retailers relabelling old favourites like the We-Vibe Touch and Tenga Iroha+ Kushi as grindable toys, clearly something was going on, and I wanted in. I’ve been on a hunt lately to find good quality suction on a budget. It saw me review the viral Sohimi ROSE, try out the infamous OSUGA Cuddly Bird (also known as the Biird Obii), and even take a second look at the toy that started it all, the Satisfyer Pro 2. But I would be remiss if I didn’t bother trying the beginner’s option from my favourite suction brand, WOW Tech’s Womanizer. Now, I must warn you, while the Womanizer Starlet is the cheapest option in the luxury German brand’s current catalogue, at $120 AUD it is still quite a hefty sum. Plus, with a favourite like the Womanizer Liberty coming in at only $30 more, it had me a little unsure of where this product could possibly fit in with the rest of my toys. But, with a recent rerelease taking it from the Starlet 2 to the Starlet 3, alongside the updated Premium 2 and Classic 2, I just couldn’t resist giving it a go when Lovehoney reached out about a review.
