As 2023 draws to a close and we begin to think about the upcoming year, let us first take a moment to look back on what an exciting time it has been for sex toys! Because whilst I can’t exactly post a full Spotify Wrapped-esque recap of the last twelve months, I can share my Top 10 Sex Toys of 2023. Now, while there have been a few recurring themes this year, overall it has been a time of variety. And this has been no clearer than in the price ranges of the items I have tried. I’ve reviewed some of the cheapest sex toys I’ve ever had the pleasure of testing, and some of the most expensive, yet the results have been surprising. Better yet, both large and small businesses have come across my desk, and I’m glad to say there is a nice mix of the two on this list. But I’d hate to give anything else away and spoil the fun, so without further ado, sit back and get cosy, as I revisit 2023, look at what’s ahead in 2024, and share my favourite sex toys of the year with you all!
This year I finally moved my business into my very own home office, and having my own space for the first time has been absolutely amazing. As you might imagine, it has also resulted in me being able to work more than ever before, and unsurprisingly this was the biggest year for Princess Previews yet, with far more posts being released than any other year (making choosing this top 10 extra difficult!). In addition to my usual reviews, I was also able to share my thoughts on topics such as sex dolls, and I even published my long-awaited sex toy app round-up, which will streamline the writing process for these kinds of products and make it a lot easier for readers too. Whilst I continued to implement a variety of changes behind-the-scenes, the most exciting of these has to be using geolocation on my store links, meaning that you’ll automatically end up at my recommended retailer for your location. As I continue to get this new feature live sitewide, you can look forward to both that and even more tweaks to the way you use my blog in 2024. As for my work outside of the website, I was honoured to be able to collaborate with a number of brands, including becoming one of Honey Play Box’s HONEYLAND contributors, working on the branding for a fantasy small business, and consulting on the design of a new product that I’ll be announcing very soon, so stay tuned! There may have been no ranked sex blogger lists this year for the first time, but looking at my stats and comments from the last twelve months tells me all I need to know, and I’m once again thrilled to do this work.
As always, I have to say a huge thank you to all of the brands who worked or collaborated with me in 2023. This was Share Satisfaction, Uncover Creations, b-Vibe, Bestvibe, Pink Punch, Funzze, Le Wand, Freely, ZALO, JOUJOU, Midnight Menagerie, Nudie Co, Peepshow Toys, Masturbation Websites, Odyssey Toys, Lovehoney, LELO and The Adult Card Game. Plus, an even bigger thank you goes out to all of my blog sponsors across the last 12 months, whose support allows me to do what I do. This was SexToy.Com, AcmeJoy, Nastnova, Lust Avenue, Monster Pub, Wands of Lust Co, Touch Honey, Tantaly, Velvet Brands, Pearlsvibe, Habakon, Honey Play Box, YoYoLemon, Adorime, Sohimi, ICOCKCAGE, Klitton and Betterlovedoll.
Of course, my BIGGEST thank you goes out to all of my subscribers, followers, and visitors! I wouldn’t be writing if you weren’t reading, and I hope to see you back here in the new year!
Top 10 Sex Toys of 2023
Number 10 – YoYoLemon Rabbit
2023 was the year of the thruster. I went from barely ever reviewing them, to trying seven since April. You’ll find a few on this list, but we’re starting with YoYoLemon’s attempt at a rabbit dual-stimulator. This product immediately stood out from the rest as surprisingly being the only magnetic thruster I tried this year, a style I tend to prefer due to how much quieter they are. Yet despite it usually being reserved for premium products, YoYoLemon’s budget-friendly Rabbit more than did the style justice, making this my top pick of the year for those seeking an effective thruster without breaking the bank.
You can get the Rabbit directly from YoYoLemon for just $105 AUD / $69.99 USD!
Number 9 – ZALO Mose
On the topic of rabbit-style thrusters, we have the ZALO Mose. A favourite of the last twelve months, this toy may cost more than the YoYoLemon Rabbit, but if you can afford it then its superior features are hard to beat. Not only is there improved thrusting and vibrations, but this product also had the best heating function I tried this year, with its unique look and packaging in line with ZALO’s ancient Egyptian-inspired Legend Series. Whilst there was certainly room for improvement, namely in the controls and noise level, ultimately it was still a highlight for me.
You can get the Mose directly from ZALO for just $208 AUD / $139 USD!
Number 8 – Funzze Sucking Massager
One of the biggest differences between this list and that of previous years is that it features just one suction toy. This unusual honour goes to the Funzze Sucking Massager, a small but mighty toy that uses contactless air pressure waves to full effect. A viral sensation in its own right, thanks to Australia-based brand Vush dubbing it their Empress, and at a premium price tag to boot, it certainly isn’t as perfect as you might think for a toy that was called 2020’s best sex toy for women. Yet with the far more reasonable cost of just $41 AUD / $28 USD at Funzze, this is the cheapest suction toy I’ve ever tried, and an absolute steal.
You can get the Sucking Massager directly from Funzze for just $41 AUD / $27.99 USD!
Number 7 – Honey Play Box Fiona Plus
We’re back to the thrusters, but this time it’s with a toy quite unlike the rest. The Honey Play Box Fiona Plus is what you get when someone decides to take two very different sex toys and connect them with an umbilical cord. Initially I was against it, but when I compared it to the prices of the two toys the Fiona Plus most resembled on Honey Play Box’s website, I realised it was actually a great deal. Then I tried it, and realised it was a great sex toy too. The most laid-back thruster I’ve ever used, you simply pop it in and let it go, whilst the flicking tongue of the external rose does all the rest.
You can get the Fiona Plus directly from Honey Play Box for just $123 AUD / $83.99 USD!
Number 6 – Funzze Massager
Since the Magic Wand Rechargeable is one of my oldest and most beloved sex toys, it takes a lot for me to be impressed by a wand massager. But when I saw the Funzze Massager going for just $44 AUD / $30 USD, an absolutely wild price for a toy like this, I was immediately intrigued. Whilst there are some issues, namely the controls, which inexplicably start at the highest speed and then go down, overall I found that the vibrations more than made up for this. Even better is that it’s the first time a full-size wand has been at this low a price point, and that’s absolutely worth celebrating.
You can get the Massager directly from Funzze for just $44 AUD / $29.99 USD!
Number 5 – Funzze Stainless Steel Dildo
It seems it was Funzze’s year. Of the three products I reviewed for the white-label retailer in 2023, all three have made it onto this list. The biggest reason for this is their prices, which are some of the best in the industry and take products that are usually only available at a premium and make them accessible for the first time. And there was no better example of that this year than the Funzze Stainless Steel Dildo. A clear copy of the Njoy Pure Wand, this product comes with its fair share of ethical concerns, and even I still feel a little uneasy including it here. But at less than half the price, and with almost all of the pleasure, how can I not?
You can get the Stainless Steel Dildo directly from Funzze for just $102.7 AUD / $69.99 USD!
Number 4 – Velvet Thruster Prime
My most recent review was also my biggest of the year. The Velvet Thruster Prime didn’t have much trouble standing out from the rest of 2023’s thrusters, with it being the only one of a modular nature. What this meant was that there wasn’t just one silicone shaft, but rather six, all of which can be used interchangeably with the electronic base. Plus, if this wasn’t enough, it also offered a long reach handle, screw-on suction cup, and even more accessories at their website! Whilst the entire thing was next-level, my favourite attachment had to be the Prime Nanci, whose unique shape is ideal for G-Spot stimulation.
Number 3 – Uncover Creations Tentacle Grinder II
Even though grinders were one of the most popular categories on my blog this year, I actually only reviewed one (unless you count the alternative Banana Pants dildo base cushions). It was the Uncover Creations Tentacle Grinder II, and despite writing about it all the way back in February, it has stayed on my mind ever since. There’s so much to love here, from the included straps allowing for easy securing to my Liberator Jaz, the intricate ocean floor-style base design, and, of course, that singular tentacle with its tapered tip for hands-free insertion. Using it truly felt like a fantasy come to life, and it is easily the best grinder I’ve tried so far.
Number 2 – Lovense Gravity
The final thruster of the list, the Lovense Gravity was a huge highlight of 2023 and easily one of the best sex toys I’ve ever tried. I ended up writing about it three times, once for the review, another time to give a copy away (because I couldn’t keep something so brilliant just to myself), and again when I included the Lovense Remote app in my Sex Toy Apps Round-Up (unsurprisingly, it received my highest rating). Trying to include a summary of the Gravity’s many features here just isn’t possible, so I would recommend reading the review to know more. But be warned, doing so will create the irresistible urge to get one for yourself!
You can get the Gravity directly from Lovense for just $189 AUD / $129 USD!
Number 1 – Midnight Menagerie Teufl
The Midnight Menagerie Teufl is the polar opposite of the Lovense Gravity, and for many reasons their orders here could be switched. But since this is a list of my personal favourite sex toys of the year, I’m thrilled to announce the Teufl as my number one toy of 2023! It features a beautiful fantasy design and intricate colour work, making it hard to believe this was created by a relatively new Australian small business. Plus, its gradual ramp up of girth paired with a soft silicone is essentially a better version of what I wanted from my recent Freely Custom Dildo, and because of this the Teufl now holds the record for my largest inserted toy too, which was always going to make it pretty special in my eyes.
You can get the Teufl directly from Midnight Menagerie starting at just $99.95 AUD / $70 USD!
