During the burst of confidence my review of the Uberrime Ripley Alien gave me a few months back that saw me asking SheVibe to review the Uberrime Dr. Manhattan, I decided to also try my luck with another of the brand’s toys: the Spiro. Smaller than the Dr. Manhattan but larger than the Ripley Alien, the Spiro has a maximum diameter of 4.4cm / 1.75″, which is a size I am quite familiar with as it features on many of my favourite dildos, such as the Tantus Vamp Super Soft and Tantus Uncut #1. However, other than the beautiful colouring, this isn’t a toy I was drawn to initially as I found the shape of it super unusual, particularly the idea of having the most girthy part of the toy halfway down its shaft. But I wouldn’t be a very good reviewer if I didn’t try new things, and it turned out resisting its vibrant colours was harder than I thought!
Product Description
The Uberrime Spiro is by far one of the most interesting dildo designs I’ve ever tried. While it’s somewhat phallic and not as fantasy-like as my other two Uberrime dildos, the unique head shape and girthy shaft both set it apart from my other dildos of this size. As I mentioned before, the largest part of this toy isn’t at the head like usual, but is instead about halfway down the shaft with a diameter of 4.4cm / 1.75″, and this is also where the toy’s only real texture comes into play in the form of a subtle ribbed effect. The head, which is only 4cm / 1.59″ in diameter, then features an angular design and a board flat area at the front to help aid G-Spot stimulation, and this is further helped by the toy’s large curve. With a medium soft density (Shore 8), the Spiro uses a slightly firmer silicone than my other Uberrime toys, but despite this I still find it very soft. Then, coming in four gorgeously vibrant UV reactive colour palettes, choosing which one to get is not easy. Additionally, as these products are handmade, the blending of the two colours will be unique on each. Mine, for example, has a far more distinct change between the two colours, rather than the more blended nature of the online example pictures, and also features a odd streak of violet running down the front of the toy in the otherwise pink area. Plus, while I always enjoy Uberrime’s latte-art style bases, this one really takes things up a notch with a beautiful pattern. As this toy has a base it is anal safe and harness compatible, and despite the angle it sits on this toy is somehow able to stand upright by itself.
Packaging
My order for the Uberrime Spiro Nebula was placed with SheVibe on the 11th of July and I promptly received it by the 17th, which was an amazing speed considering it was coming from the US to Australia! As usual SheVibe’s packaging was completely discreet, with no mention of who the sender was or what the contents were. Since this is then my third Uberrime product I thought I had a good idea of what to expect when I received it, however things were a little different this time. Usually the toy just comes in a simple plastic bag, along with a envelope containing an A4 sheet of printed FAQ information on it, which also features a small handwritten thank you message from the artist. However, this time the toy was simply presented in a plastic bag that features the Uberrime logo on one side and care instructions on the other side, without any further additions (although there is a chance this is because I had already received the envelope with the Uberrime Dr. Manhattan, which was part of the same order). This new packaging feels a lot more professional and simplified, although I do kind of miss the personal nature of the FAQ envelope.
My Experience
This toy does not have a suction cup, however the base is slightly curved in such a way that it actually does have a fairly powerful suction ability when placed on a flat surface. This is the same strange feat that I found the Uberrime Dr. Manhattan had, making them both some of the most powerful suction cup toys I own… despite neither having one.
Inserting the Uberrime Spiro Nebula is somewhat easy due to the squishy silicone that is used and the relatively small head, although I still prefer to do a good warm-up prior and use lots of lube. As such, my prep routine typically involves using the following toys in this order, as they all represent gradual increases in size: Funkit Toys NoFrillDo R, Tantus Pack ‘n Play No.2, Tantus Vamp Super Soft, and Uberrime Ripley Alien.
Using the Uberrime Spiro feels initially quite odd to me, as the first sensations I am presented with are a head that is smaller than my body expects after such a lengthy warm-up, as well as one that does not conform to any shape I have felt before. I am so use to rounded and realistic style heads that the flat surface of this one immediately tells my body I’m in for something different, and I’ve come to really enjoy the unique feeling of it. Next, I get to experience something else I’m not accustomed to, which is the mid-shaft increase in girth. I’ve always been curious about trying a toy that features something like this, as I figured it would be a much nicer and more gradual way to enjoy girth, and after using it for the first time this idea was definitely confirmed. Even though I sometimes struggle with a 4.4cm / 1.75″ diameter, because I am able to slowly inch myself towards this one with each thrust, it makes it so that I barely even notice the change, other than the immensely pleasurable full feeling it gives me. Working together, the shaft and head combine their unique sensations and allow me to really enjoy long thrusts with this toy, and as such I adore taking its full length. When I am ready to climax however, placing it as far back inside of me as I can and using it to stimulate my A-Spot is the way to go, and despite its short length I find it works really well for this (besides leaving you with a very messy hand afterwards!). What’s more, I find that using it in this way also serves as a secondary way for the unique head shape to really shine, as the flat-surface gives off a feeling that is different from the rounded shapes I am use to.
Cleaning & Care
Since the Uberrime Spiro Nebula is entirely made of silicone, it is also waterproof, which makes cleaning it a breeze. For general cleaning it is best to wipe it down with warm soapy water and rinse before and after every use. If you are switching between partners or vaginal and anal play however, then I’d recommend sterilising it by throwing it in the dishwasher, wiping it down with a 10% bleach solution or boiling it for 5 minutes. After, let air dry and then return it to storage. Make sure to only use water-based lubricant with it as other lubes may damage the silicone.
Final Thoughts
Overall it has been a true pleasure reviewing the Uberrime Spiro Nebula. The choice to get my other two toys from the brand was very much based on the geeky aspects of them, as the Alien and Watchmen inspired products both appealed very much to my fan girl heart. So going from these to a toy that didn’t have a theme to draw me in was a little different, but I am so glad I went for it anyway. Even though it looks more like my other dildos than the other two, this product was so entirely unique and different that it let me experience using an insertable toy in a completely new way. From the smooth yet angular feeling of the head entering me, to getting to experience its full girth slowly and repeatedly, this dildo has given me many great orgasms in the short time I’ve had it, and is likely to give me many more! A welcome and stand-out addition to my toy box, I’d highly recommend the Uberrime Spiro Nebula to anyone looking for something a little bit different, particularly if you prefer your fantasy toys to be more on the small and non-textured side.
Sadly, the Uberrime Spiro has now been discontinued.
