It’s been well over a year now since I last reviewed for an Australian independent maker, and oh how things have changed in that time! It feels like just yesterday I was introducing Darque Path and Faux Phallus at the blog, two of the very first local stores to pop up, and now all my dreams have finally come true, with a thriving community of small businesses being located right here down under. One of these such brands is Midnight Menagerie, a Queensland-based shop very much after my own heart. With a range of fantasy designs available in a range of beautiful colours, they also offer TTRPG dice for games such as Dungeons & Dragons, which I’m more than a little partial to. But the thing that most excites me is the variety of size options they offer their toys in, and so when they recently suggested sending me their latest design, the Teufl, I knew it would suit me perfectly.

We hear the phrase “size doesn’t matter” a lot in this industry, but lately it seems like everything is getting smaller! From the exciting new Magic Wand Micro, to my recent review on the Pink Punch Sunset Mushroom, it’s cool to be small these days. Not only does it allow products to be more versatile, working in a greater range of positions and situations, but it offers more privacy too, with toys taking up less space and thus easier to hide or take with you on the go. Plus, a smaller body generally means a smaller motor, which results in less noise. The flip side of this, however, is that it can also mean less power, something these toys are hoping to debunk once and for all. Yet no product has more reason to prove this than the smallest vibrator I’ve ever seen, the Klitton I.

I’ve already tested a handful of app-controlled toys in 2023, but so far none of them have offered the convenience that makes me want to keep using the app in my spare time. Since I’m mostly using toys solo, the best way to incorporate apps into my routine is during extended wear, rather than bedside play. This is what I had hoped for with my recent review of the We-Vibe Ditto+, but with glitches getting in the way of any enjoyment, I was instead left feeling unfilled. Thrusting sex toys are experiencing a true renaissance right now, with both stretch- and accordion-styles currently being more popular than ever. In fact, the only style I haven’t reviewed this year, despite holding a special place in my heart as the method many of my early thruster toys used, is magnetic. Recently I’ve been getting more into make-up and skincare, partly due to TikTok. I love watching people’s routines, although many of the products these influencers use are far too costly for me to even consider buying. That was when the algorithm started recommending me “dupes”, which is a shortened version of the word duplicate and young people slang for a product that is very similar to a popular competitor, yet cheaper. For the first time, make-up felt accessible to me, and these dupes have been the perfect entry-point for someone who is still learning what they like and who is not yet ready to commit to a luxury purchase. Anyway, the reason why I am telling you this story, is because when I saw today’s review item, I immediately felt like I was one of those TikTok beauty influencers, like I had the chance to help someone just starting out on their sex toy journey, just like they helped me. Because at $108 AUD / $70 USD, the Funzze Stainless Steel Dildo is the closest dupe of the legendary Njoy Pure Wand I’ve ever seen, and at less than half the price!

Review: Pink Punch Sunset Mushroom

Pink Punch Sunset MushroomOne of the most memorable products I’ve reviewed this year so far has to be the Pink Punch Peachu. Whilst the suction toy sadly wasn’t able to satisfy me as well as I hoped, I was blown away by every other aspect of it. Despite being a relatively new brand with only one other product under their belt, Pink Punch had clearly applied a high level of thought and consideration into their flagship stimulator, with the design of the toy itself and everything else relating to it being exceptional. The Peachu, based appropriately on a peach, is a mini work of art, as is its discreet packaging, unique storage case (which doubled as a charging dock), and cyberpunk-style phone app for long-distance control. So, when that review was done, the only thing on my mind was getting my hands on Pink Punch’s other release, the Sunset Mushroom.
